Definitely not a fail, and you should absolutely do some cards with this artwork, Debbie! I love how this grew through the lovely layers, and the MAB’s just sent into a whole new galaxy of stunning 🤩 The Ocean and Gemstone series are to die for, honestly! I don’t think I would be able to set them down 😅 I do have my Mei Laing set, and it’s gorgeous colors though, and heading down the hall for my paint time today…guess what I’ll be giving a go?! Btw- was so happy when you said purple for the second set of wings! Thank you for all you do for us, and Happy Saturday!!!💜🌻🙌

It is my pleasure Jules, yes cards, cards, cards. I LOVE making them, giving them its so much fun. Layers in watercolors has such a special kind of beauty doesn't it? I have put my metallics away a couple times only to bring them right back out, because I just cant stand to finish a painting without just a touch of bling! The MeiLiangs are indeed beautiful, so vibrant and great for layering too. I just never know what colors exactly I ight add, and I too was so happy with the purple next to the green turquoise color. Thanks Linda, I had fun playing with those metallics, and filled the wings with bling! Originally I had a different vision for the wings, but I just never know what is going to come out which is how I like to paint. I hope you give this a try, and when you draw this, let the wings be organic and a bit wonky because arent we all? :-) Have fun Linda

I don't know that everything in nature is perfectly semitrical??? Your dragonfly looks great the way it is... you are always encouraging me, and I dare say everyone else to have fun painting. Sooo, I am daring to remind the teacher and professional artist to "have fun painting "!!!!! ❤😊 OMGOSH! I love the combination of the purple and green 💜 💚dragonfly!!!! As Zaza Gabor used to say, "Gorgeous dar-ling"(at least I think it was she who said that??? Lol ✌️)😊 I love that you put a periwinkle (vinca) vine wreath around the dragonfly. Love the bling of the metalics too. 😊

You aimed for joy and you certainly achieved that. My 2 favourite watercolour things….dragonflies/butterflies and metallics in one project. Must try this one. It would be dramatic on black paper or on the round paper that I recently enjoyed using. My to-do list of your tutorials is getting out of control!!!!!!!!. Don’t apologise for using metallics, people can just leave them off if they don’t have them or like them, it looked beautiful without them too. I was happy to see you using the ocean series. I know I keep banging on to you about how they are my favourites, but they are sooo pretty on wings. Love to see how happy you are when you paint.

lol I agree Judith! the colors, the dragonflies and metallics?! What else is there right?! I agree it would be beautiful on black paper. I did a tutorial on black paper with a Dragonfly earlier this year and it was just as you said, quite beautiful and dramatic. Hehe, I say that is a quality problem :-) That ocean series is fun. All of them are just magical. Oh those PR metallics are on my list as well. (Saving up as we speak) I used the Mirror Series all thru the holidays and still pick them up, all of her paints are just wonderful. Gorgeous. I so look forward to making this. Using metallics is like playing with kittens to me. Joy and fun. I hear you should avoid using your good brushes as it is hard to get out?? I love a beautiful space when I do art, too. Pretty things, relaxing music, aromatherapy and setting an intention…to create a sacred space. And the Watercolors and Wildflowers Palette will soon be joining my haven:)

I've not heard that the Metallics are hard to get out? I use several different brands and types of metallic watercolor. Masking fluid is very hard to get out and will damage your brushes maybe that's what you're thinking about?

@@debramontanez20 I don’t have much of a hard time getting the metallics out I do make sure and rinse my brush, good masking fluid. I definitely use an old brush and then a little baby shampoo and warm water.. well I find I use different brushes sometimes for squash as it can be a little bit harder to get out than regular watercolors. They are all so much fun though I use them all aside from masking fluid. 😊🎨🖌️

watching this makes me want to get out my metallics again! I tend to change focus every few weeks, but having the eyes of my birds in mirror pigment is very appealing. I also use the MAB watercolours, got 1 mirror pigment and some colour shift vivid series, very good quality
