This is beautiful. I actually have a photo taken from my yard of this exact iris variety on my painting table right now. I love those extra fine microns.. also they make a sepia version which is even more subtle especially for warm toned subjects. I wish they made all the colors in the extra fine tips.

What I like most about your teaching is....YOU always say, "I do it this way but if that is THE look YOU want, do it your way."...AMEN!!! I think art is in the eye of the beholder and the artist. I went through a faze (when I was actively painting) that I used heavy Indian ink outlines on my flowers. Then filled them in with watercolor. It was my style for a time. I had an art teacher tell me, "OH! NO!!!! you can't do that!!! Is that what you see in nature?".....why not!!???....Well, it shut him up when I won a couple of awards at an art show for the paintings! Well, if Hunter Biden can get those prices for that crap he is producing......anything goes!!!!!

Finally got back on a puter and hadda check on my buddy lol say why do you use sepia to darken your color for shadows? How do i know what colors to darken my shadows? ALWAYS SEPIA? And i understand what warm and cool means but do they really have a big effect? I know they say warm pushes an object forward and cool drops back but If your would have used warm colors for the whole painting it could still look good right? SO its not a must? WARM AND COOL?

Hey! I struggle a lot to find a good ink pen to first outline then color everything, but I tried with a few and I just get with an horrible mess of color and black ink mixing with it. I let it try completely but still, it's so confusing. What kind of ink pen are you using? Also, I see some artists first throw the colors, make the general idea of the painting, then little by little add details, in contrast to this technique, where you first make the lines then you start painting. Which one is better when you look for a natural kind of ending? Also, great flower, I found your channel recently and I love it, I'm pretty sure I talk for a lot of people saying your tips are highly appreciated! Keep up the awesome work!

Hi! I've been a pen and ink artist for forty+ years. The pen I use, which I also see Mr. Dunn using, is a micron pen by Sakura. I use the .01 tip. These are the most consistent ink pens you can use for drawing. Good luck!
