I thought everything was lost with me talking about watercolor. I found this tutorial and now, eventhough I made a few mistakes, I feel proud of my results.

This is a great little project and a nice tutorial. I followed along and made a decent attempt - I would suggest that perhaps in future videos you could explain where exactly you are adding the paint in the 2nd and 3rd layers (and where you aren't) and why, as that was where my attempt fell apart a bit. I wasn't entirely sure where the light vs. shadow should fall on something that had its own internal light source. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and I hope you plan to share more tutorials.

I love it!! The fact that you used your color wheel….great reminder on how to darken your colors. I’ve missed our chats. Hope all is well with you and your four legged painting companion❤️🐾🐾❤️. I would love to see more tutorials like this….some detailed, others more quick and easy. Perhaps something that could be painted and used as a small picture or maybe used to paint on a card. You do a lot of underpainting in some of your objects, maybe something using that, or like you did with your Christmas lights. ( Which I plan to paint and use as a small picture to put around during the holidays.). Thank you so much for this great tutorial (from a great teacher!!). Please keep in touch! Nell.

Excellent beginner explanation of value or tone to create 3d effect. Using complimentary color to darken vs. Paynes gray is much more pleasing. My biggest challenge is preserving highlights if not drawn in or using masking fluid.

I just watched this again and wondered if you have to leave hard edges. Would it not look right if you blended out every layer? I just have such an aversion to the hard edges. In my mind, it seems like it would be better to soften all the edges.
