Try it on 140 lb. watercolor paper. Why? Sketchbook paper doesn’t hold a lot of water and is usually quite thin. There are a lot of wet washes in this painting which require absorbent paper. Then, when you are satisfied completing it on watercolor paper, go paste it in your sketchbook!!

dear emily i need some help! online i found out about a few people who say that daniel smith s misslabeling lightfastness on some of theyr watercolor, these people tested the color for like a year keepeng a sheet of paper on a windor. some color, like anthraquinoid redpr 177, resulted faded even tho it says on the tube that the color is supposed to be a 1 on the astm scale... im not sure now if i should trust these home made tests or the company daniel smith, one of theyr fugitive color is actually moonglow, which loses it's warm tone after ben exposed to light for a few mounths, even tho moonglow is actually a 1 on the astm scale, can you give me some advice about this situation? thank you, your video are really helpful and you're a great teacher!

From Capistrano State Beach / Dana Point you can often see Catalina Island on the horizon. Depending on where you stand to take a photo or frame your painting you can get a Marina or rocks as a foreground or even cliffs.

Artists have their own glossary of words that turns into poetry on your surface! Love those colors!

This is lovely Emily. Bold colours, and yet you still manage to make them look so soft when looking at the painting as a whole. You have such a wonderful talent. I joined your Watercolour Mastery thingy, but doing so in the manic run up to Christmas was probably not the best idea. I must buckle down ! Happy New Year - May 2024 bring you joy and contentment ❤
