A big yes to seeing your art from when you were younger. That portrait of you is really good.

The portrait is really good! I wish I knew who did it, l have to ask my mother about the history of it. And thanks for voicing a “yes” for sharing my previous art! 👍🏼

oh to have a tidy space!! I've been working on that for years....but it is still messy. Perhaps this will inspire me to finally push through and get it done! (I love those IKEA drawers that you could store away in the closet!). I'd LOVE to end my day each day with clean surfaces!! (I think that might have only happened maybe twice in my lifetime and I'm 63.....been painting for over 35 years).

Sometimes being TOO organized is counter-creative, I think! I remember an old coworker had a saying on her desk that said something to the effect that more "chaos" meant more creativity. And I thought - you know that could be very very true! Because I spend quite a lot of time cleaning up rather than creating ;)

Thanks Jillian! And thanks to 'voting' to see my art - will do that one of these days. I just cracked them open last week (after filming this video) and they ARE fun!

Ok. I’m jealous. No distractions and everything in its place. Peaceful painting❤ I’m always organizing and redoing it often. I also need your room😊

I'm a very messy artist and gave up on keeping my desk nice and tidy, but it's nice to see uncluttered clean deaks from other artists because it motivate me to organize my stuff 😅 Love your room it looks so nice yo paint in 🥰

I think that there's something to be said about when you are able to have supplies that are on the desk easily accessed. I feel sometimes I would be a more creative (and messy in a good way) artist if that were the case!

Lovely home studio! I have the same desk and drawers from Ikea and I'm always looking for a way to organize them. Where did you get your drawer dividers at 2:30? They seem like the perfect fit 😍
@SusanChiang Жыл бұрын
The drawer dividers are from Ikea too! It's these ones: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/grasidan-box-set-of-5-black-80402442/

Wow, such a beautiful neat space for your art room. I would love to see your previous art pieces. I'm curious what the Ikea drawer dimensions are. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Your drawers are divided by the niftiest well-fitting boxes. Where did the boxes come from?
@SusanChiang4 ай бұрын
They are just boxes that came with the paints or that I had - it was a lucky coincidence that they fit!

The mini Altoid palette currently only has 4 random pans in it! It would be nice for me to make a palette though!

Everything is so neat and peaceful. My studio is a riot of color thanks to my bulletin boards. I love the bookcase. Can you please tell me where you bought it? Thanks for this super zen tour! I am amazed that some tours feature the messiest drawers. Yikes!
@SusanChiang4 ай бұрын
Some people thrive in a messier environment I guess! I just don't/can't :). The bookshelf is old from CB2! Though I think if you google "spine" book case, you might find some similar ones - mine is a metal material, if that helps!

thanks for sharing this Susan! I love studio tour cos I'm always figuring out how to store and organize my stuff..it's a neverending quest! I love how neat and minimalist your studio space is. I really wish I can reduce the amount of things I currently have! Yikes..too many hobbies. BTW, do you have a link to the book case you have? I really like how compact it is.
@SusanChiang Жыл бұрын
You're welcome! It is indeed a neverending quest to figure out how to organize and store stuff - a good challenge I suppose! And my bookcase is very old, from CB2 - but there are a lot of similar versions out there if you search "spine bookshelf" you should find some!

@SusanChiang Жыл бұрын
Thank you! And I got the boxes from Target but I can't seem to find the anymore. The dimensions of the box (if it helps): 13.75" x 9.125" x 12" So it can barely fit a 9x12 painting.

Nice and neat. My only objection is the wall to wall carpet that is not that good of an idea for an art studio. It is better to have something removable and easily washable.
@SusanChiang Жыл бұрын
YES! I almost wanted to mention that I resist calling this an art studio because it has carpet, I wish it had hardwood floors…but that’s just how it is. I think in some ways it ‘hinders’ my creative process because I’m so worried about being too messy. I may need to put down a drop cloth or something…
@creativecolours2022 Жыл бұрын
@@SusanChiang Why don't you remove it? Or perhaps cover it with something that is easier to clean like cork or vinyl floor covers, those that you can buy them in rolls. That are like thick film, ( I don't know how exactly are called ). I have some old mosaics in the room that I use as my art studio, that don't look that nice but at least I don't worry about stain them. I'm in Athens Greece btw in case you wonder where I got the mosaics. These type of mosaic awful looking floors are the default particularly in the older apartments like mine.But the good thing is that are easy to clean even bleach them in case of an accident.
@SusanChiang Жыл бұрын
@@creativecolours2022 I guess mostly of the cost/expense of doing this! If we ever replace our floors, I would pick a hard surface, for sure!
@creativecolours2022 Жыл бұрын
@SusanChiang What is under the carpet btw? What sort of material? This kind of floor covers are not particularly expensive and they are not of course something permanent in case you are renting the house. So you can install something and then remove it afterwards and put back the carpet in pristine condition. Aside of that what I like the most in this room is the sliding doors at the closet. They save so much space. The room that I use as my studio has a closet as well but it has the classic doors that don't allow me to put anything in front of them. I have to leave enough space in order to open the closet and so my small room becomes even smaller! But yours has great layout with the windows at the corner and the closet. Very nice room.
@SusanChiang Жыл бұрын
@@creativecolours2022 Thank you - I love this room too! The carpeting is very new so I hate to tear it up...just yet. But I do appreaciate the suggestions! Thank you
