Tom were you an architectural illustrator at one time? I think I may have read, or heard, that's where you started your w/c journey. I can see where your style of painting would have had commercial illustration possibilities. I was an art director in a past life back in the 80's. So I see through a somewhat different lense I guess. Cheers from the desert.

Hi Dan - Oh yes! I am an architect and made my career as an architectural watercolorist. Then I did a lot of film ,TV, and design work and then transitioned into fine art full-time about 12 years back

In the first 30 seconds of the video. Most areas in which colour is added have a certain gradient, from warm to cold.

Yes - Most colors only come truly alive when they are used with their complements. And grading from one to another allows for luminous neutrals, and an added sense of depth.

Good Morning Thomas from Southern California. I watched your demo of last week with CWS , great demo and lots of info. I was wondering, can you tell me if the pigment in the wells in you palette are completely dry and you just spray them before a painting session or do you add fresh pigment and water before each painting session. Thanks - No I don't add paint each time - I just fill them as needed so they don't get too dry or diluted

Sometimes of course - but not only. There are parts that are wet on dry - wet in wet - dry on wet - and dry on dry as well
