Great tip, especially with the emery board on edge, to give that thin sliver of light on water. Thanks again for another informative watercolour video. Take Care, Steve from London

What a timely tip! My birch tree painting came out with the water looking quite flat and blah. Will try this and post my results. Thanks so much!🤎💙🤎

What a great idea. It’s so interesting that I used to use the technique when building model airplanes to show paint chipping but I never would’ve thought of it to be used with my watercolors. Thank you so much.

I have used a stanley knife (or similar) to do this but it can tear the paper. I think this tip is much softer and gradual, so will definitely give it a go. Thanks Lois. Liz

Thank you for this Lois. I have used a rounded scalpel/ craft knife to get water sparkles a la Paul Clark. I find the rounded rather than the pointed tip is less likely to dig in the paper but you do have to be gentle.

Brilliant tip. I've followed Scott Swinson and tried razor technique which works for concentrated lines of light. Your tip looks better for creating dry brush. Thank you

I am speechless. I could never even think of sanding my paint. What an amazing trick. What is the grit of sandpaper, 80, 100, 200 or else? Thank you Lois.

@@LoisDavidsonArt Usually there is a large number printed on the back of the paper indicating the grit. But if it's like a nail file, I have a good idea. Thanks again.
