The way you include lighting and shadows in your paintings is really amazing. I know I shouldn't use black for shadows, but using more pigment doesn't give me the desired results in shadows/lighting.
@alfredthedeadleaf93195 жыл бұрын
Maybe try other colour for shading, like shading blue with purple? Personally I prefer that but it depends of your artstyle some people make black shadow looks good(I think of some american comic book espacially)

Thanks for the great video. Trust me, you need to cure that palette, you will have a better time later on. Use any abrasive substance or material and scrub it a lot until you remove the shine and looks opaque. It will stain after that true, but the beading is impossible to work with.

Zen might make acrylic ones too, but if they're super fluffy and not so stiff they're probably for watercolour.

Do you stretch your paper? I don't know many watercolor artist that do that But it's better at preventing buckling than taping the paper down I don't think the paper even buckles after stretching it I did this a lot back when I was using printer paper for watercolor instead of watercolor paper

is it okay to recreate your work? I want to get into watercolors but only problem is that i dunno how to start. Purchased cheap set from amazon and tried once but barely got anything out of it as i was not sure if its just me or the colors dry out too fast before i apply them on paper after that day i stopped using watercolors returned to sketching. But then again i dont have paint pallette yet. Also could you please make tutorial step by step for beginners on how to start out and without any cuts too. Really liking your work here.
@sophielegay41045 жыл бұрын
Hi eterno, I strongly advise you to NOT use cheap watercolor. I did, big mistake, I almost drop what I knew was a passion when I was a kid. Instead of a lot of cheap colors, buy a few paint of a good watercolor brand (Schmincke, winsor and Newton professional, sennelier, M Graham, Da Vinci... there are a lot). I'm a big fan of Schmincke. Anyway, you only need 2 yellow, 2 red, and 2 Blues. One cold and one warm of each. You can find a lot of information on KZbin. Careful though ! You might end up buying more over the months!^^
@eterno16105 жыл бұрын
@@sophielegay4104 Hi. Thanks for advice. These watercolors cost 16 euros is it cheap though? sort of but not that cheap i guess. Yes, i did check Newton colors but those cost twice the price and had less colors in palette 12 or 16 i think. If you are curious what brand i bought then "Water Brush Pen 6 Pcs Assorted Brush Tips Art Paint Watercolor Brushes Set, with 36 Watercolors Paint Box, Fundamentals Watercolor Pan Set, " as reviews were okay, I mean for beginners would not been that bad right? Of course i have bought a lot of supplies in last 5 months, not just a wattercolors.
@sophielegay41045 жыл бұрын
@@eterno1610 Yes that's cheap... I guess you don't have the pigment information at that price. The reason I don't like cheap watercolor is that you can't do anything with it. Maybe experts can, but not beginners. I didn't give up when I started again because I remembered I was able to do things before. No I have a big palette of cheap watercolor that I have used only once, never again !
@eterno16105 жыл бұрын
@@sophielegay4104 Only reason i purchased this cheap set was i left job and was on tight budget i had to make decision, yes i did check out popular brands of watercolors on internet and yes Newton was mentioned, i checked price and it was steep so i kept searching for not so expensive palette. Newton palette is on my top list now.

Does anyone know if it's better to put watercolor down before the line art?
@alfredthedeadleaf93195 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you use for line art, if you use ink do it after or you'll cry but some pen can resist to a certain amout water colour, you should really test it on an other piece of paper and see what it looks like. What I like to do is a super light sketch->watercolour->line art with ink or brush pen
