Love the way you do the background, it creates much more movement and expression to the whole portrait. Little robin looks as if he's singing his heart out. Beautiful.

Hi Tom, I can't imagine you struggling to paint anything the whole process seems second nature to you I guess that shows years of diligence, showing up and pushing the boundaries. And observing the light bringing it into your painting. So vibrant and lovely

Robin is my favorite winged friend and I have tried to paint him several times. On the surface, it seems simple to paint, but you can get lost in its inconspicuous, graceful modesty. Tom, I am so enjoying your videos, your style is unique and it’s so much fun just to watch you paint so intuitively! I would love to see you paint one of my favorite birds, the Northern Flicker (woodpecker family). It has really beautiful colorful patterns. I saw a bunch of them at Fort Fisher in NC where they were gathering to migrate, with fantastic flashes of yellow when they fly.

Thanks, Tom...been following you for a while. I like to paint birds on tea bags and I agree, the Robin is difficult to capture. I would love to see a simplified tawny owl in your style if you get the chance.

Aren't they just! Birds on tea bags? That sounds incredibly intriguing!!?....I will absolutely paint a tawny owl for a video. I think one is on the list all ready...so keep an eye out :) T
