Jeerys artarama sells these too but the sets are 2x or more of what lightwish charges. I bought 3 tubes when they were on sale (ultramarine blue, crimson-the pr149 one, and lemon yellow i think) and they mixed beautifully. I painted a baseball player and posted a video of that. These are much nicer than the regular maries watercolors that are super cheap, they dry down well and and nice to work with. I'd say a step above cotman but kind of similar. The price is great for this set!

It's good to know that Lightwish is charging a decent price - they're in USD so it's sometimes difficult for me to know if something is cheap or expensive. Everything costs more in AUD, lol. These Masters paints are very good! 😊

I love playing with metallics! I like that they come in a plastic pallet so when you spray them it won’t disintegrate like cardboard can. Went right in my cart! My thoughts are with your dad for a quick recovery. Take care.

This would be a great set for folks who want to add some reliables and standards to their stash and get very good quality without breaking the bank. I watched another person review them and she did some mass tones then diluted tones. She was blown away by the vividness of some of the mass tone versions of the colors. I’m pretty well stocked but otherwise might buy these as I think they’re a great buy for the money. Thanks!

These look like Marie’s better watercolours which they have been making for years. I used to be able to get them I; Chinese stores here in U.K. as well as in Asia. They are a very traditional Chinese brand and I first used them around 60 years ago having been given a set as a gift. They even look very similar! The golds looked nice.

I think they've made a resurgence thanks to Chinese companies like Lightwish and Temu. They're nice paints! 😊

Really nice review of these items, I've seen Marie's paints on Temu although I do not know if they are the masters ones, and you can't go wrong with shiny paints!! Loved the art work also, I must give glass a go, I've never tried but it looked so much fun to paint! :D

My dad bought a set of Marie's "Chinese paints" from Temu and they just showed up at his door a couple of days ago. 😂 Painting glass is fun, especially with transparent watercolours!

Haha I was trying to work this out too! What I think is that Lightwish is a wholesale company who sells and distributes different brands, in this case Marie's, Superior and Paul Rubens. There are a few wholesale art supply companies in Australia that do this too.

Nostalgic, I haven’t seen any Maries paint for years. It used to be a common affordable brand here, but has been completely replaced by Reeves which I would say is inferior, though as I say it has been years.

Marie's paints (at least this set) are much nicer than the Reeves paints. I had some of those at one point but they smelled horrible! 🤢
