I used marine epoxy G-Flex from West Systems, added black epoxy tint for color. A 1 to 1 mixture. I emailed questions to West Systems and the response and information was excellent. G/Flex is designed to be a high vibration epoxy.

Great videos and helpful info. I have a few long scratches on the side of the hull under the waterline. What do you suggest from colorite? They have a bunch of choices. Touch up pen, small jar, or complete package? I plan on filling the scratch a little at a time and wet sanding as you suggested to smooth out the scratch.

Just your suggestion for pen or brush in small jar. I have the other materials listed in complete package. Did you clearcoat over the scratch?

Get the complete 3-stage kit (I prefer the small paint jar & brush). It's got primer/filler, color and clear.

Is it OK to use a floating jet ski dock with a Nanoexcel 2 hull? It would be really convenient, so long as it doesn't pooch the paint.

I have dry dock scratches/ substrate damage on my hull! The hull needed to be done since purchase! I figure a nice hull refinish every 5 years will allow me to use the ski as designed. I wonder if you can purchase a new hull 🤔. It would be easy to put a nice finish on one without all the stuff attached, maybe a winter project?

WHY REPLACE THE HULL? The most mediocre fiberglass repair shop can fill your chips and gouges. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Hey Kevin, helpful video, thank you. What do you think of the is "Gator Glide" application to the bottom of the hull? Apparently increases speed of an FX SVHO by 5 MPH. Thanks.

Paul, it DOES NOT increase speed, especially by 5mph. In the video that is circulating shows a LOSS of .5mph (although several factors are NOT openly addressed like air and water temp, etc.). What Gator Glide does is break up surface tension. This is fine for top speed (to a degree), but HORRIBLE for cornering. Your PWC depends on surface tension for traction in corners, the same way a motorcycle depends on the outside edges of its tires. My suggestion remains the BEST option. It's slightly more expensive, but it's still the best.

I was about to get g4 or superslick 2000. I saw one of reviews about them. I'm in saltwater with tons of oyster reefs and yes i go shallow because I'm a fisherman. Do you still not suggest those and a clearcoat instead with flex additive? Thank you

I picked up a pre-loved '16 fzr that the previous owner had what looks like rhino liner applied just from below the waterline, obviously professionally applied as it looks very tidy (the whole ski's in immaculate condition and been well looked after). It's tough as nails and I thought it was a good idea but I can't claim to be an expert in the field, not by a long shot. Can I ask what the down sides are that you referred to? I'd be really keen to find out, cheers. Edit: I just read another reply here re cornering but with the riva pro sponsons on it it'll still break your neck. Is there anything else I'm missing?

Surface tension. What the LineX/Rhino has done is ELIMINATED all of the hull's surface tension, making grip in ANY sort of high speed cornering dangerous, particularly on a high speed cornering ski like a FZR.

yeah i have some spots on my 16 fzs where half dollar size chips of hill material is missing, they didnt make the best product. just too busy to lift the skii w my forklift and repair it w bondo like material

Yep. I hit about a 6" thick branch up the river doing about 90kph. Astoundingly, no visible damage. Think I got lucky there.

I don't believe that would be a good idea because it would create drag. I have rewrapped my intake covers with a carbon fiber wrap design. It looks really good. If wrapping the bottom of your ski was a good idea. I'm sure the manufacturers would have installed it already.

Don't paint over decals-no need to!! Mask off bottom to the out sides but not up the sides. If your taking decals off then clearcoat sides.

Don't worry!!! If it is underwater I Will Find It. I have a special Gift for finding those kind of things. I hit a log that exploded into a bunch wood chips that got wedged into my impeller. Fun Time For All That Was Involved.
