@intheblackofficialchannel4 ай бұрын
@@Sami-rp7mf I only have experience with the G2 so I can’t speak to the G3 or other filters. Waterdrop support explained to me that all RO filters will experience TDS creep. Minerals suspended in water migrate across the RO membrane when left sitting for a period of time. You either (1) buy a filter that self flushes, (2) run the water for 30-45 seconds to flush manually before use, or (3) accept that the first water you take each morning will have higher mineral content. Personally I flush it if I’ve been gone on a trip or haven’t used the filter in a while, but on a day-to-day basis I do not.

Great video! Super helpful. Not sure if you know the answer, but I was wondering-Do you know if the G2 resets every time it gets unplugged? I don’t have a power outlet under the sink (yet) so I have it hooked up to a portable AC inverter with a decently sized rechargeable battery. Just started using it so I don’t know how long it will last. It’s a temporary solution until I can get an outlet under there. I unplugged my unit, gave it a minute, then plugged back in and the filter lights are still blue. But you raise a good point, does the internal memory remember filter life during extended power outages? I’m not sure. If you email service@waterdropfilter.com, they will give you a definitive answer. Worst case, put a note on your calendar to replace the CF filter 12 months after purchase and MRO filter after 24 months.

Saw you comment on two videos 😁. I hope by now,10month later someone has already answered you. Im stuck deciding between the G2600 and the G3600. The G3 is about $100+ upfront and about $75yr extra in filters. Are you satisfied with the G2? Do you know what the difference is between them and if it's worth the extra cost. I can't find much information comparing the 2. Just that the G3 is better because it filters more.
@intheblackofficialchannel Жыл бұрын
I am satisfied with the G2. My only frustration is the "TDS creep" that exists with this filter (and with any RO filter of this type). This is where the first 10-30 seconds of water flow will have a higher level of Total Dissolved Solids (i.e., minerals) and possibly other contaminants due to the process of osmosis that occurs across the filter membrane while it sits idle. This means that if you want the most pure water, you need to allow the unit to run for ~30 seconds prior to taking water. This issue will be present on the G3, but it might be less pronounced. I am not sure as I have not used the more expensive unit. Other than this issue, I have zero complaints with the G2, I think it's a fantastic filter.

@@LarryB-inFL I haven’t used a tanked system, so I’m not sure. Waterdrop (and others) sell a small pressurized tank for roughly $30 which stores a liter of water. I live in Chandler, Arizona. Installed 2 days ago, I did ran it for 30 mins after setup but ppm is still at 110 range (without RO ppm is at 750). Also when I metered the water run, I notice it initially pour out 500 ppm and takes 20-30 sec to drop down to 110 ppm. Very disappointing.
@intheblackofficialchannel2 жыл бұрын
RO systems should eliminate 90% of TDS, so around 75ppm is a realistic target. If you run the filter for a bit longer, say 60 seconds, does TDS drop further? I’m in Gilbert AZ my water is about 550 from the tap and the filter will drop it down to about 40ppm after running for 45 seconds or more. I reached out to Waterdrop last year about this exact issue, and they said “this is a common phenomenon happening on all RO systems with tankless design.” They sent me another filter to install between the RO unit and the faucet and said that if I used it I wouldn’t “need to flush and wait for the TDS to become low anymore.” The model number on that filter is WD-15UD-RS. I have the filter but haven’t gotten around to installing and testing it. I can forward Waterdrop’s entire email response to me when I asked this same question, just send me an email at kf@kenafedorschak.com.

@@AffinityPhoto TDS is a measure of mineral content, which is not bad. These minerals (aka electrolyte) are essential for human hydration. However we do not have a reliable way to measure dangerous contaminants (e.g., lead, PFAS, pesticides, metabolized pharmaceutical byproducts, etc) at home without sending to a lab. So we use TDS as a proxy. In my opinion, RO is the best way to filter water at home, just know that filtration performance is lower the longer the filter sits. There are some RO systems the auto flush the filters every few hours, reducing this issue while wasting more water. If you are very concerned, I would look for a unit with auto flushing.

@intheblackofficialchannel3 жыл бұрын
Filters are lower cost and changes less frequent when compared to similar RO systems. I love everything about this system except I have one gripe, which is that the TDS count is really high for the first 30 seconds you run the filter after it sits overnight. This is how Waterdrop gets the efficiency so high, the filters do not flush themselves every few hours like other systems do (including the G3 and competitors, not sure about regular G2). I’ve been meaning to ask the Waterdrop team what this means for overall filtration performance for the first 30 or so seconds after sitting for a while (TDS is just a small part of what is removed by the filter).

I honestly don't understand why so many people are dumb enough to drill a huge holes in their sink or countertop just to install the WD G2 P600 which only has a threaded stem that measures less than a half inch. It does NOT require a big gaping 2 inch hole. It only requires a half inch (0.5") hole, and nothing more. I have this exact unit sitting on my counter ready to install, and the reason I purchased this unit is because my porcelain sink top came with a half inch hole for a liquid soap dispenser. Please people, look at what you're installing before you go drilling holes in your expensive countertops. I've watched so many videos of people who spent money on two inch diamond tipped hole saws and then spent an hour drilling a two inch hole, only to watch them stick a half in threaded stem through the hole, while never once asking themselves, "why did I need such a big hole?" I wish I could post photos here to show people how ridiculous it is.

The differences aren’t huge. The G3 has two extra filtration stages (7 instead of 5) so I theory it should remove more contaminants. It also has an automatic flushing mode, which wastes more water but also should help TDS creep, which is where it takes 30-60 seconds of water flow for the filter to reach peak filtration performance after sitting overnight / for an extended period of time.

Does the water taste like bottled water? 😃
@intheblackofficialchannel3 жыл бұрын
Taste is largely determined by the Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) level of the water, which is a measure of the mineral content. Reverse osmosis filters (including this one) reduce TDS levels by about 90%. If you live on the coast or somewhere that rains lot, you likely already have soft water and a 90% reduction in TDS will make the water have almost zero taste. If you live inland or somewhere with very hard water, it won’t 100% remove all the taste. Any chemical taste (like chlorine) will be completely removed by a RO filter like this. Keep in mind that mineral content in bottled waters very quite a bit too, with some having very low levels and having little taste, whereas mineral waters will intentionally have high mineral levels to create flavor.
