I can't be the only person who shudders when you see people jet washing the engine bay. This is the sensible way forward. I might give it ago myself. Great video as always.

Thanks Peter! Yeah I think when it’s not super dirty and I’m not going for total perfection then waterless seems like the better option, definitely faster as well
@SparkleanAutos3 жыл бұрын
You got good results Heather, thankfully it wasn't too bad, shows you stay on top of it. Does amaze me how many people are afraid of using a pressure washer in the engine bay! At the end of the day, so long as your not being an idiot and holding the pressure within a few inches of crucial areas, it's absolutely fine! This rinseless wash was absolutely fine for the little dirt there was under your bonnet though 😁👍🏼

Cheers Mark! I have always been a bit nervous of giving the engine bay a blast if I’m honest even though it’s safe, I’m just a worrier 😂 at least it’s forced me into giving it a once over reasonably frequently so it doesn’t need it haha!

@@AutoCareHQ well you've just proven that if you keep on top of it, it's a much easier process!

I also sometimes use my air compressor to help blow sand, debris out of tight spaces before introducing liquids. LOVE that HUGE soft bristled brush!

One of the best methods I've seen, it will need to be called the auto care HQ method or the Heather method. Seriously though this now gives me the confidence to do an engine bay using this technique, always been concerned using a jet washer in an engine bay to clean it. Just need to order some surfex as I'm nearly out, thanks for the reminder lol. You are by far one of the best creators out there in my view, brilliant, just brilliant!!!
@AutoCareHQ3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Phil I really appreciate that 😊 I’ve always been worried about using a jet washer on the engine too, plus it’s probably not all that necessary if it’s not too dirty! Haha, I’ve always got to have some surfex on the shelf as well 😂

Nice quick freshen up 👍🏻 I’ve never done it but I suppose you could have a water filled pump sprayer (or similar) if you wanted to give it a rinse without even needing a hose?
@johnbrown39513 жыл бұрын
Really enjoyed the video. That is pretty much the same method I use. I use a degreaser and then Auto Finesse Dressle plastic dressing. For the exposed paintwork in the engine bay and door shuts I use Auto Finesse Triple which adds shine and water repellency.

My engine bay is currently pretty clean, I was going to do a wet detail but might try this. I've done light detailing on 2 other of my cars with Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber as the detail finish, and I love its finish. Unfortunately we can't get Squid Ink products in Australia yet.

You can just use diluted Solution of SimpleGreen to do the job. Brush not necessary unless you have excessive dirt buildup

I also use Bilt Hamber Surfex HD for engine bay on 10% dilution and to kill its residue or for the residue not to reactivate with water, just use ONR.

I vacuum my engine bay, Got a weird look from the postman when he came into the garage once. Just FYI with your engine bay cover be careful with APC, My sister in law has a 2019 CX5 and the service guy's Got oil all over it so i tried to clean it off and the APC took some of the plastic off. I had to buy her another One set me back $400.

I prefer wearing gloves at any time. Those engine bays are crowded with edges, sharp screws and I tend to wreck my hands ...
