Great video thanks. As a relative newbie to the hobby, I'm really loving the Epic ACW range and your channel has been a fantastic source of information and inspiration. I had planned on building a 28mm British army based around the units at La Haye Saint. But may have to reassess now and look at something similar to what you're looking to do. The whole of Waterloo on an Epic scale! Thanks again, great channel.

Nice video buddy. I was at Salute over the weekend and it gave me a live idea of the size of Epic in ACW and the new Epic Napoleonic. My local shop is talking a Black Friday deal on ACE so thats why I have been on the fence with ACW but I know Im going to get into it and your channel has been very handy for getting up to speed as I have never played Black Powder before. Epic Naps well thats just a given as far as Im concerned!!! LOL. Especially with everything in Plastic.

I like your plan. I looked around online and can’t find the Warhammer Historicals: Waterloo - Tabletop Wargaming in the Age of Napoleon for less than $100 used. I’d appreciate any suggestions on alternative uniform books.

Hope your table is big enough. The Epic footing for Napoleonics is the same as 28mm. I'm also considering the Epic scale, mainely for storage alone as my AWI project is in 28mm and I want to have a side worth for Sharp Practice. Napoleonics though I shall use Prime and Load rules for those battles.

I’m going to look at making bases smaller, ie there are 10 figures in 60mm, there seems to be a possibility of separating the figures to 5 figures per 30mm base but not much less as they seem to overlap too much to get 3 or for figures per base what I want is to get the individual battalions to the size they were. The British Foot Guards were over 1000 men per battalion if 1 figure = 10 men that would be 100 figures in 2 ranks with each of the 10 companies being 10 figures strong. However a 600 man battalion would have 10 companies of 6 figures in 2 ranks. Also meaning each company would be 3 figures wide. It will make the depth of the battalions look how they should look. I would have liked to see the option for 2 ensigns per battalion and a number of officers, sergeants and drummers to make a 3rd rank behind the battalion.

That looks like you have a solid plan. I tend towards having less link to men to figure ratios. With most battalions being regular size, but units like the guards being large. I also have used Principals of War, and you have an off table record of strength as that isn't just men, but morale and other factors combined.

Really interesting to hear your plans, and I’d totally forgot what a great uniform resource Warhammer Historical’s Waterloo rules were. I’m still really drawn to trying to do something Peninsula based myself, I know I’ll be missing the Stovepipes, but I think I can probably get away with it at this scale.
@Unclecthulu3 жыл бұрын
Your right about the Stovepipe, it would not worry me at that scale. My Waterloo in 6mm British are all Penisular.
@Unclecthulu3 жыл бұрын
Mainly I prefer the Penisular uniform as u love British Officers Bicorns.
@MiniatureRealms3 жыл бұрын
@@Unclecthulu The hobbyist in me says I can convert to stovepipes with a sharp knife and file, but then the sheer amount needed tells me not to be silly 😂. Ive had a close look at them and there’s some scope for painting Riflemen as red jackets, it’s the rifles and sword bayonets that would stand out more than the actual uniform. I like the Bicorns on the officers too, but that I think is a realist conversion, pretty simple green stuff conversion, I’ll be doing a few of those.

As with ACW, with look forward to your Napoleonic output. It is going to be quite a ‘thing’ with the those 11 sprues supporting the release and initial waves.
@Unclecthulu3 жыл бұрын
Yep all.in plastic, totally unexpected. I wonder what the 11th sprue will be??

Looking forward to seeing your painted figures. What was the book that you use for uniform reference as only just got Into the period and I prefer books to the web guides ? :) thanks in advance

Great vid. How does it compare to 15mm stuff? I really like the look and price of the warlord stuff but after already painting the entire French 4th corp(1812) and a few peninsula Brit devisions in 15mm, starting all over from scratch doesn't seem like a practical or financially good idea.
@Unclecthulu2 жыл бұрын
New 15mm stuff is bigger than it. Epic Battles is about 13.5mm. Scales well with Kallistra, but they don't do Napoleonics. However for me, it's the look of the strips and the formations I really like. I have heard minifigs 15mm scale well for additional command figures etc.

@@Unclecthulu Brilliant cheers. I'll pick up a set as I do like the look of them too.
