So I love post apocalyptic words that were lost to time like calling water 'hydro' and oil 'go-juice' But what are some other examples of end of the world movies or tv shows that replaced super common words with some weird nonsense?
@mattmcgrath253 жыл бұрын
I think it was Mad Max that called oil "Precious Juice" and that always made me laugh. It was like when the Beverly Hillbillies called their oil "Texas Tea."

I think the 1975 film A Boy And His Dog is loaded with this post apocalyptic new speak. I remember Don Johnson calling women something that I don’t really want to repeat.

So the $30M for 30M lbs of pounds of trash. Is that a reasonable tradeoff; or am I not understanding the deal partnership correctly? It seems like more trash could be removed, for less money incurred. One of my favorite movies ever made is Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. You should Distracted Nerd that one if you get the time

There seems to be a belief in the Zombie apocalypse genre that we won't call zombies zombies. They are geeks or walkers or Zeds. That kind of thing. I would think that zombies actually existing would just result in the word being used more but that's probably just me I guess.

In Australia we have never had a Mike's Donuts, however we do have a franchise chain called Donut King which sells donuts/milk/thickshakes/hot dogs etc and we used to have abppace that sold uptown "gourmet" sort of donuts and milkshakes called Wendy's, but it's not like the American Wendy's at all. Wendy's went into receivership and finally was bankrupted. So yeah.

I must say, looking at many post apocalyptic movies like this one, and the ingenious mind of man, I have to think that the people in this film would have been much further along in technology than we saw! It was mentioned in the film that the people had been living this way for centuries, perhaps a millennia. They would have had a better set up than "atolls" as we saw them! In fact, when they mentioned that there were more atolls in the past, it made me think people had found land somewhere and left. Creating a desalinization process would have been possible.

Yes this is a remake of The Road Warrior but so was that Patrick Swayze movie and they are all remakes of Shane including Clint Eastwood Pale Rider. And speaking of Swayze the Fast and Furious was a direct rip off of Point Break and to be technical all 8 sequels also. Why do all Godfather movie’s open the same way with a big party? I liked The Force Awakens so much better when it was called a New Hope.
@jpalexander2923 жыл бұрын
I saw this in the movie theatre in 1995 and liked it and did not see why it got so much shit. Ok it may have cost too Much to make but I paid the same price to see it then I did much worse films. My point is the budget has nothing to do with me and was irrelevant as to how good the movie was. I’ll take this The Postman and dances with wolves over the 3 star war sequels any day.
