Funky Kong isnt a skin for Donkey Kong cause if you listen closely to his noises its different the Donkey Kong's

What I meant was that he would take up the same slot as Donkey Kong, not that he would be a literal clone necessarily. That was just my best guess at the time. But someone else brought up the possibility of Tanooki Mario And Cat Peach moving into Mario and Peach's slot respectively and two of the new characters taking their places, which is also possible. In any case, something similar has to be done to make room on the character select screen for all the new characters as there are only two empty slots.
