I started posting my own Tiktoks on my KZbin Channel and it helped me quite a lot. I also noticed an increase in subscribers because of my shorts so I really think it's a good idea to start making shorts on KZbin.

The Shorts algorithm is great for content creators, however, youtube needs to have compatibility improved across the board in order for a bigger adoption rate. The biggest issue in my opinion is that shorts on desktop get clumped together with regular long form content. For many start up channels, consistency is a sign of quality, and if you post shorts on your main channel, unless you are ONLY targeting the mobile short market, it will make the channel look unprofessional, therefore decreasing traffic. This isn't a huge issue for creators who are already big, for some they can post whatever and people will still eat it up. But shorts through any platform other than mobile is just fundamentally broken right now. I do shorts on youtube, but because of the inconsistent nature of the organization of shorts, I have a secondary channel where I put that shorter content on. If youtube decides to integrate shorts further into the platform, I may then experiment with shorts on my main channel.

Rick Beato or Adam Neely are two the biggest music education KZbin creators and who have definitely found the formula for making YT that draw people. It would be interesting to get them on your show to compare notes on attracting and keep subscribers. Amount of time spend creating videos for the different audiences. Compare tech industry who likes the YT creators to market their product, where the music industry fights YT education creators. I think comparing being creators for different audiences would be interesting.

they are using directional microphone more specifically cardioid microphone which only picks up sound from one side.

Not just what Alex says, but dynamic microphones are inherently less sensitive. Make people that use them wear a headset since you have to be close to those mics (sometimes you have to force them).
