You are so unfair to Waves... And your statements are not entirely true, sorry... By the way, they support this hostility towards this company. 1. Comparing the Waves resonance suppressor version to Sooth is fundamentally unfair due to the price difference. Would it be worth comparing the quality of cars in a price ratio of 1:5? The correct question for Waves is how useful it is in work, and the proper opponent for it would be the version of the aforementioned Baby Audio (price does matter in comparisons I dare say). 2. You don't have to buy subsequent versions of Waves plugins! This is an absurd statement. Somehow I still use old versions of many of their plugins and no one is forcing me to update! I don't feel the need to update if the new versions do not bring anything that will improve the quality of work. And by the way, how many companies do we have that do not make us pay for new versions? Acustica Audio, Melda, a few others are certainly nice examples, but they are not the rule. 3. It is thanks to Waves that we have such a huge drop in prices on the market. Do you think UAD and others would have given us such great deals if the market hadn't changed so much with Waves' famous $29 per plugin move years ago? It's unbelievable that people don't appreciate that. Of course they didn't do it to please us, but it's what made it so many people around the world could afford really good plugins... Otherwise we'd still be seeing more like $199 prices 4. People sometimes go into fundamentalist mode. Yes, Waves made a terrible mistake by going subscription-only back in the day. But they fixed it in a matter of days. How many companies were able to react that quickly? And yet you still read hate comments for that move... Seriously? How many days did it take? How many years are people going to point out this mistake? It's generally not the plugins but the skill of the engineer that makes the end result. I'd dare say there are still a lot of tracks that are still considered great mixes using Waves plugins than people realize.

If you change your computer you'll see how much pain in the ass is the process of installing the old Waves plugins and if you're using Mac you need to buy the new ones because the older versions just won't work on your OS. They charge for the updates of the same plugins with the same features, it's anti-consumer behaviour that no other company does. Waves has some classics which are great like CLA76 or L1 and I use them but as a company Waves really sucks, sorry.

Try lowering both the guitar and vocals with a flat curve (the big round knob at the bottom in the center, without additional equalization of individual frequencies, like in your video, and then listen to the delta of Soothe (how it eats up the useful signal and creates a cottony sound of the voice like a neural network) and then of Equator (how it takes away the resonances and as a result the sound will sound natural). The Equator does not need to be painfully tuned with individual frequencies like Soothe 2. It will find everything it needs itself. Equator also has a delta button on the right above the big knob. And it will become clear to you that this is a completely different level of anti-resonance processing.) Spend more time studying it and it will show you magic. P.S. You almost missed a magic plugin. )

Funny comment, they INVENTED audio plugins, it was not a thing before - first ever plugin was Q10 in 1992 and it cost $1000. And they were first in almost every category of plugins. When you go to any medium or large studio, music or post, they are expected to have Waves installed on all their rigs. Not saying it's a good or bad thing, just that Waves ain't going anywhere anytime soon.
