Nicely explained video, and great track to demo it....Where do you place it in your Master fader chain (beginning or end or somewhere else?). Cheers from the UK.

Fly I know I keep asking questions and I don't want to be boring but I'm still upset about some basic things and that is, whether the same mastering chain is used in the Daw i while mixing in output chanal (in the box) and in the mastering interface when you import a stereo song with - 6 db headroom, I mean ssl bus, kramer eq, wider and l2, I see that some use ozone 9 for mastering when importing stereo song for mastering?
@FlyGuyJ2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but Im not quite understanding your question
@zabavno21122 жыл бұрын
@@FlyGuyJ sorry, 😒You do the mastering in the mix interface, does the same chain go and when you do the mastering on a waw stereo song that is ready for mastering?
@FlyGuyJ2 жыл бұрын
@@zabavno2112 I master my own songs so I do the mixing and mastering in the same session. If you were sending the song out to be mastered by someone else then I wouldn't use this plugin or any other mastering plugins. I would simply send the mastering engineer my mix at a levelof -4 to-6 db of headroom. If someone sent me a song that was mixed and ready for mastering I would use this chain or something very similar. Sometimes I choose not to use the kramer tape, might use a different tape plugin, or opt out of using tape if it sounded better without it.
@zabavno21122 жыл бұрын
@@FlyGuyJ thanks m8 👍Somehow it seems better to sound when I master in the mix box than when I export the song in wav format with - 6 db headroom and re-import and master with the same tools I mentioned above, but maybe it's just my subjective impression, I do because I have a weak PC so when I put a lot of effects the processor goes to 100% otherwise I would master in the box

I would like to ask the channel's authors something on the subject, does "kramer" amplify the sibilants in the vocals? i know he gives the volume and the size of the song but when does he put it on?

Should I create a send for the vox or on the track
@FlyGuyJ4 жыл бұрын
If I were using this to add tape saturation to my vocals (all vocals) I would send all my vocals to an "ALL VOX AUX" or something like that and then place this plugin as an insert on that aux. If I wanted the tape saturation added to the vocals and the instrumental, then I would add it as an insert on my master bus. If I were trying to use this to add slap delay to a vocal then I might choose to add it directly to the track itself, or onto a vocal aux where more than one vocal are being fed. The answer to your question will vary depending on what plugins you are using and what tasks you are trying to accomplish.

@@FlyGuyJ the only difference of putting something via send as opposed to putting it directly on the track is cpu usage correct? It is going to SOUND the same either way right?
@FlyGuyJ3 жыл бұрын
@@inlovingmemoryofdouglasmul5216 The main difference is that when you use a plugin as an "insert" the audio on that track is traveling directly through the plugin in series. If the plugin doesn't have a mix knob then you will not be able to control how much of the audio is being processed by the plugin and how much is leaving the plugin unprocessed. When you use a plugin on an aux track and "send" to audio to it, you are actually creating a parallel track that is being sent to the plugin. This allows you to keep the original audio unaffected, and then send a copy of that audio to the plugin to be processed. You can then use send fader to control how much of the audio you are sending to the plugin, and use the faders to blend/mix the unprocessed and processed audio to your liking.

@@FlyGuyJ so do u use sends for eq and compression too or put those directly on the vocal track?
@FlyGuyJ3 жыл бұрын
@@inlovingmemoryofdouglasmul5216 You can do this a couple ways. 1) If you want to save cpu you can send all the vocals to a bus, and then have the eq and compression plugins as inserts on the bus track. That way every audio track you send to that bus will be effected by the same plugin chain 2) If you aren't concerned with cpu usage, or if you have different vocal tracks that need to be prosessed differently, then have eq and compressor plugins on each individual track as a track insert insted of sending them to a bus. * I like to use sends for time based plugins, or effects such as (reverb, delay, flanger, chorus, doubler) and use plugins like eq, compression as inserts
