I will say it and say it and say it again, musicians new to the mixing game think delay and reverbs is what make a mix... and the truth is eq and compression is the tools that can make your mixes go from demo to commercial the fastest once you learn how to use them of course. Nice review Graham the track is sounding good.

I luv this Plug.... 4 fun facts about it. 1)... If u load it in and dont turn a knob, u have 0 cp load, only the modules u touch. 2)... on the top right of each module is a little rectangle, click it, u get an expanded view of this module, with even more control, f.e for compressing mid side differently. 3) click Ctrl + a frequency knob ( f.e in the EQ section) solos this band... awesome 4) u can use the deesser as an external sidechain, f.e to duck only the kick frequency out of the bass, sounds different then just sidechaining the bass. Thanks Andrew and Waves for creating this lovely piece of art

I love the de-esser. I’d only ever used a de-esser on vocals, specifically for the intention of removing some of the s’s. But Mr. Sheep’s plugin really opened my ears to the de-esser’s function as a single band or shelf compressor. I use it to tame cymbal wash harshness, temper the low mid buildup on acoustic guitar, especially palm muted parts. This plugin changed my life and finally got my mixing with my ears instead of my eyes.

Nice review and demo. Like the song 2. How does compare features, sound etc. with the CLA Mixhub?
@GatoPaint5 жыл бұрын
question: deeser before or after the EQ ?
@jefftravilla5 жыл бұрын
GatoPaint depends on the EQ moves you want to make. Let’s say you want to brighten everything up and do a high shelf around like 3K, but that exposes some harshness in the 4K range that you need to tame. In that case, de-esser after EQ makes sense. If you hear a problem that you’re trying to solve before touching any EQ, I’d put the de-esser before EQ. For its literal use of taming sibilance, I’d put it before the EQ as a general first step. If the EQ moves expose more sibilance, you can either move it to after the EQ or turn down the de-esser’s threshold to remove more of those frequencies before they get boosted by your EQ moves.

I would like to know the main advantages of a channel strip over separate plugins besides the convenience of one plugin. If you do a Mix with many tracks, isn’t it likely that a variety of compressors would be called for. Or are the individual tools in the Omni just so good and especially, flexible. But I can’t imagine that. All plugins have their own subtle Color. Please explain.
@SirThomasJames5 жыл бұрын
I understand what you mean, basically how I use it is use the Omni Channel is to use it on buses. I will shape the bus how i want it (especially with the midside and sides functions), and then afterwards go to individual channels and maybe use some specific plug ins.
@BrofUJu5 жыл бұрын
I really like it for individual drums, kick, snare etc. How one eq change happens effects how the compressor works etc. I like to work effeciently, so having everything there and a great sound is fantastic.

I got this plugin with Mercury during a ridiculous sale before the V10 update (don't recommend, WUP is confusing, and you will never ever use all of the plugins) and never even used it because I'm a nerd for the SSL channel strip. I guess I have to try it out now. It's become a habit when I see these videos to ask myself if this is new or if I have it and just never saw it because of the ridiculous option paralysis, then to open my DAW and look for it. I always look forward to these reviews.

What computer do you recommend for your daw and mixing?
@AhmetWinchester5 жыл бұрын
If you're a starter it doesn't really matter and you should only upgrade if you encountef performance problems like I had. I upgraded my system and would recommend a strong cpu, ram + ssd for your OS and another large HDD for your rendered projects or stems. I'm using a i7, 16gb ram with 250gb ssd and another 1k hdd and I don't have any performance issues at all, not even with plugins which are super cpu intense but those specs really depend on the kind of work you want to do.
@AhmetWinchester5 жыл бұрын
PS: DAWs are pretty much System independent, the overall specs matter
@JensHilzensauer5 жыл бұрын
only logic is mac only, all the other daws work on mac or pc. the better your computer, the better it is...but a windows tower with a Core i3-8100, 250 GB SSD und 8 GB RAM + another hdd hard drive for storing your stuff can already do a lot of positive damage. If you have more money go for Intel Core i5-9600K 6x 3,7 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 250 GB SSD + 2nd hard drive. If you can afford even a better system I'd recommend a Intel Core i7-9900X 10x 3,5 GHz CPU, 8 GB RAM, 250 GB M.2 SSD. If you can afford bigger hard drives or more ram, go for it. ;-) But for Mixing and home producing I would recommend those 3 setups.
