CLA Epic CPU i5-8400: 13% (Core). Waves, you need to combine CLA mixhub with CLA epic to reduce the CPU load (to send everything to a single copy of CLA Epic) and simplify automation. You promised to simplify the sends system in DAW, but inserting this plugin on each track is not an option and a simplification. So, Waves, here example: I want to automating my reverbs. Snares samples, kick ambient sample, rooms, toms has Room Reverb and also toms and one of snares samples has Space Reverb. Before chorus there is toms fill and I want to increase Space Reverb like "Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight" for toms and one specific snare sample. In break part of song I want to add to all drums (except close mics) Hall Reverb. It's almost impossible without sends, busses! CLA and Waves it's not Epic - go home as you say! P.S. and don't delete negative reviews on your site! P.P.S. CPU load for 6 core: Valhalla plugins x8=3% | Slate Verbsuite x4 + D16 Repeater x4 = 10% | CLA Epic x8=30% (if I don't use send to AUX and busses, I need more of that)

It needs to allow disable unused FX. That way you can use more instances as an insert (you don´t use 8 FX on every track) and if you want full control you can create 8 AUX with 8 instances with 1 fx enabled each, that way you have full control with the same CPU usage as right now is using only ONE instance of the plugin. Right now you cannot use it as CLA tells is designed, if you use it on every track as CLA says the CPU implodes after the 3th instance. It is a pity because the plugin is amazing and with a very simple solution (allowing TURN OFF fx) it would be fixed.

I can't help but think that it's an oversight that when you route a delay to a reverb using the ABCD controls that it prevents the input signal from going directly to the reverbs as well. Thinking about how Chris mixes his vocals, he not only routes his vocal signal to the delays (which are then fed into his 480) but he also sends to his 480 directly from his vocal. It means he's able to balance his vocal to delay and vocal to reverb balances independently. I'm really surprised that it's not possible to do this within the plugin.
@AlexRubinoOfficial3 жыл бұрын
happy to inform that the manual disagrees. in the drawing we can see the input going to delays and reverbs both. Page 17 www.waves.com/1lib/pdf/plugins/cla-epic.pdf
@waves3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question @eatsleepdrums - This is an intentional feature: in fact it’s a requirement defined by Chris Lord-Alge himself: when feeding a delay to a reverb, the reverb should NOT also receive the dry signal. This is in fact how Chris requested to route things in the plug. In his view, routing BOTH dry -> delay -> reverb AND dry -> reverb at the same time doesn’t give great results, so he designed the plugin to omit this sub-optimal option. The goal with CLA Epic is to include only the GREAT options :) We also implemented a unique display (gray rectangle) for a reverb that’s being muted when the delays feeding it are muted. It's even mentioned by Chris at 07:41.
@eatsleepdrums3 жыл бұрын
@@waves Thanks for responding. That seems totally at odds with what Chris does on his SSL console but if that's what he wanted in the plugin then who are we to argue with the great man? :)

Or you can use his signature plugins (per instrument/vocals) plus his effect signature on each track to get a combination of 3 reverb 3 delays ...as well as instrument-tailored compression, eq and tools. Total of 2 plugins per channel and cpu friendly. It works like a charm once you gain staged, cleaned and balanced your mix. You end up in front of a huge array of signature plugin console style faders allowing you to mix quickly and concentrate on the sound. Try it. It's very intuitive.

Interesting, thanks for doing this. I bought epic when it came out, with the mindset that it duplicated the workflow described in the previous depth videos. It makes sense now that it takes the workflow but changes it to be used in a different way in a DAW, taking out the limitations in the original workflow. The limitations are also good, so it creates more than one way to do it. Both echosphere and epic sound great, although epic was hammering my older cpu pretty hard. Still, since it sounds good, the workarounds to deal with that are worth it.
