It's nice to see you covering these more obscure titles, hoping that this is something you'll focus on more after the Sonic stuff.

There's a first person momentum based platformer called Cyber Hook you might like. You gain momentum by running, can wall run and jump and use a hook to swing around or pull you places. The levels are short and encourage speed running the stages. Currently on sale on switch for like 3 and a half.

Solar Ash just released on Steam if you want to play more fast paced platformers. It's not as momentum-based but there is some intense timed platforming.

Thanks for doing this review, I didn't hear about this game until now and it looks kind of cool . I do want to kind of try it out, and be honest I'm a sucker for the art style.

nice video. i’m still going to check this game out, out of my own curiosity. i’m always happy to see you review somewhat obscure platformers.

This is definitely a game that has good platforming potential, but doesn't utilize it as much as it should and sometimes actively goes against it. I had a lot of fun with the platforming sections, only for so many other things that I don't care for to break it up. The platforming used in the speedrun sidequest should have been the focus as, even while being fun, I still found that it had a lot of platforms I didn't need, so it would still be somewhat casual friendly if that's their focus. The only combat I enjoyed was grappling the water spiders.

This game looks cool! I'm fine with games that have cool movement, but don't really take advantage of it, so I'm sure I'll like this game. I'm very happy it stopped being a Stadia exclusive too, man that would've been really bad if that never changed.

This sounds kind of like the early build of Sonic Frontiers when it was only one big island.

I'd love to see a video or two about Devil May Cry since I know you also play that series. then again.... you'd have to probably cover DMC2 if you cover that series and I'm not such a cruel subscriber to ask you to cover that one lmao. personally my favs are DMC5,DMC3 and DMC4. I don't think DMC1 aged too well despite my nostalgia for it.

I think you might enjoy Solar Ash, it seems very similar to how you describe this game so you might like it
@HydraBread Жыл бұрын
The last couple of islands of Sonic Frontiers feel the same way you described this game, just sort of repetitive where your investment in the rest of the story is kind of supposed to be carrying the experience
@Pariah6950 Жыл бұрын
I said it was similar to Frontiers. That game also shows pretty much everything it has to offer on the first island.

Here's a question. Did you enjoy the experience enough that you look forward to any potential or theoretical sequels? Generally that is sort of a benchmark for me when it comes to "okayish" games.

It depends. If it's just more of the same, not really. But if they can take this and improve it, I might be interested.

Games that have a large amount of mechanical depth but never ask the player to use it are so frustrating to me. The nuances of the systems will go completely over the casual players heads while the advanced players will just play a game that does a better job of testing them. I understand the appeal of easy, casual games but it's just such a shame to see a set of perfectly good mechanics go to waste.
