Zoink vs Trick shouldn't even be a debate. If we're talking best by demon list points it currently is trick. If we're talking player skill I'd say currently they are roughly equal. If we're talking who the GOAT is its definitely Zoink (Owns the Top 10 basically, a lot of first victors in the top 10, entire top 75 beaten, jumps so far its insane, peak performance still unbeaten).

Inserting my hot takes here: 1) I don’t get why people are so obsessed with demon list levels, especially top ones. It’s okay to like levels in the demon list, but some people love to make their favorite demonlist level their entire personality 2) UFO is the worst gamemode by far. It’s basically just “Click pattern the gamemode”. It feels like you don’t know you messed up until you die, unlike the other gamemodes where you die near instantly if you mess up a click pattern 3) Swing is overhated 4) Levels like the one Split72 put out are just lazy, and I hate how they’re the ones that get rated instead of some really cool levels that RobTop just doesn’t rate 5) The rating system kinda sucks. Its idea is cool but the execution of it is atrocious. Even if RobTop knows what he’s doing, he is still one guy, and his bias shows.

Hot take: tidal wave deco isn’t lazy to an extent and it looks very appealing. Also, if you ask a non-gd player to look at it, they would probably say that it’s really cool, which adds to my point of the level looking good.

If you show a non gd players most levels they’ll say it looks good. Glow spam, sloppily made, or whatever imperfections in a level a non gd player will usually not point out. Someone who hasn’t played GD before isn’t really qualified to say the level looks good because they have no understanding of the game, no points of comparison, and have not even had something they like yet. A non gd players opinion does not, would not, and should not add to your opinion because it’s an opinion drifting in space instead of standing on solid ground. I like the darker sections of tidal wave but the brighter section has a mix of yellow and blue that looks very ugly as well as the designs in it really showing and not in a good way. You could even say there’s too much in it to the point where it makes it look worse. That’s my opinion.

I think that pointercrate should place levels that were verified using CBF however, have that verification displayed as using CBF.. when someone beats it withought using CBF.. have their name underneeth stating their name and say not cbf.. (this wont work for reverse as beating top demons without using CBF is more often than not harder than using CBF) And we can also then label victors in bracets next to their name with cbf.. eg: username1 (CBF) link username2 link

My hot takes: 1. The demon list shouldn’t be nearly as possible as it is. It ruins the game with how serious people are about the next top 1, which are all unfun pretty much copy and pasted gameplay levels. It’s all just straight fly, straight fly with orb, frame perfect jump, frame perfect wave, oops, all clubstep monsters, more straight fly. It also sparks unneeded drama. 2. Click Between Frames is the most unnecessary addition ever. It’s just stupid. 3. The deco in Tidal Wave isn’t the problem, the gameplay is. 4. Most hated gauntlet levels like Generation Retro and Scarlet Surge are good, but people just hate on them to hate on them and look cool. 5. 2.0 style wasn’t that bad. It’s honestly a nice and unique style compared to other styles. 6. Pixel deco sucks with the exception of like 2 levels.

The block design is not incredible at slower speeds, and it often gets repetitive. However. Its not played at slow speeds, and also, more importantly: block design and detail has very little basis on level opinions in many levels imo. I think the theming, song, character and history/reputation of a level always plays a way bigger role than people think. And in those regards, i think Tidal Wave is outstanding. Sure, objectively, the block design isnt great, but level opinions arent objective.

I definitely do agree that opinions are subjective. Don't let my hot take sway your opinion on the level. It's just for me, there are some things that just make me think that this level isn't the greatest top 1 demon we've had, let alone one of the greatest levels. The 45% mini wave, the 62% blind transition, sometimes the color blending can make some objects look muddied, the 71% transition having a small gap, the last wave having some deco missing at the bottom... those are just a few examples. Again, just some thing that make *me* think this isn't one of the greatest levels. If you have your opinions, again, that's completely fine. It's just how I see the level.

The challenge community is at the center of some of the game's recent flaws from 2020-now, top players with controversial personalities or no personalities, top levels with terrible gameplay and often uninteresting deco. It's always been one of the more toxic sub-communities up there with GD twitter and gameplay only creators but they leaked over into the top playing community causing it to be much worse compared to earlier top play eras like Riot/Sunix and Technical/nSwish.

Theyre way better recently (2.2) imo. Its not that the levels are mid its just there are many different levels, and its very subjective what levels people like. the idea that you have to beat every single level in the gauntlet is fundamentally flawed though. Gd levels are very different and people like very different things, not to mention many people cant run a lot of guantlet levels without lag, so with five levels in a row theres often at least one that you really hate. Imo a skip feature would make the gauntlets way better

I think the swingcopter has much stronger gravity, meaning you need to click a lot faster, making it more interesting for top play. Swing has much slower speeds and is better for casual play. I think they both have their own niches and i doubt people are getting confused by the physics, its just like mini vs full size physics

For any easy demon out there you can just buff it to extreme without changing gameplay ideas at all, now this is a recipe for bad gameplay but the point stands. Meanwhile, you cannot nerf all extreme gameplay ideas down to easy demon. Just by virtue of having more possible gameplay elements to work with extremes can be more creative in gameplay.

Cherry team should make a level as good as kocmoc but it's an easy demon so most of the community can play and experience it. Same for levels like apocoliptic trilogy and grief

possibly hot take: creators should need an epic level before they can get a certain number or cp. The top, 5 i think, just spam featured levels almost daily. Its impossible for any real cratirs (i dont consider them real creators) to reach the top.

8:46 in terms of gameplay, I feel like I have much more freedom when making an extreme demon. I can make click patterns that are very satisfying to pull off, but too hard for any easy level. I don't have to worry too much about some gameplay feature being too difficult because well, it's supposed to be difficult. One thing you could argue though, is that the gameplay of an extreme demon has to get fine tuned a lot more than the gameplay of an easier demon. But many people don't seem to care about that anyway somehow.
