@@sgtketchup without the busy drumming, the sluggish guitar and legato vocals wouldnt be as effective and would probably put the audience to sleep. Zach’s drumming lets you really engage with the music!

@PardonMeTrevor i dont think so. the recorded drums are quite boring, likely a case of underdrumming ;) perhaps zachs drums are a bit more or heavier than the record ones, but it still fits the song quite well! only because its "a lot of drumming" doesn't mean it cant sound good on a simple song. he just adds a whole other dimension or layer to this song which makes it so much more interesting. but i actually like the other recording of this gig better (AAKFjnvPHTA)

Zach Hill is a major beast, but he just didn't fit for Wavves. Wavves is mellow stuff that needs fairly simple drumming. It's be like putting Neil Pert in place of Meg in the White Stripes. Just wouldn't work. Though the studio songs Wavves did with Zach Hill are total killers for sure.
