Me too! In Australia all people grossing an inlet have to wear a PFD by law and we don’t take that shit lightly here! No one wants to kill their children or themselves

@@WavyBoats A pretty sad and ignorant tradition. What, did they pick it up from the Cuban boat people? On the Great Lakes all children are required to wear them in ANY boat at ANY time. And, you have to have at least one aboard for every adult on board. And like the seat belt law, they're serious. As well they should be. And the captain better not be caught drinking either.

I used to have a 1967 Boston Whaler Nauset that I used for salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. The "Spoolin' Around" was a great boat and I was never intimidated by waves under 6 feet.

Never ceases to amaze me why the value of the boat is constantly equated to or used as a measure of critic of the one at the helm. Expensive boats, small boats, big boats, pos’s, have seen competent and no so competent individuals at the helm of them all. Wealth nor cost of boat I believe weigh into the critic on skills or lack of them. A professional Captain stuffing a larger boat or any boat for that matter, by all means is up for a roasting.

Understanding trim and throttle would have made a huge difference. Also understanding staying to land side where the waves are not as pronounced would have probably helped. All the captain skills in the world are useless if you don't use basic person safety equip on kids. Oh well what do I know? I am just a land locked land lubber in the Central US, that just boats on lakes.

It's water people and it's a rough crossing....all of the comments so far are dumb and clearly shows that none of you operate boats just couch captians. Boats will always be what u call stuffing the bow in rough seas there is no way around it. What he did way text book take ya time. Here in New Zealand our west coast north island bars are a real problem and the manakau bar is 4 mile long to get into safe water and stuffing the bow happens multiple time on every boat that crosses. Btw we don't have the same boats that u guys have. Those big motor yachts can smash through that inlet without stuffing the bow at speed but that's the only exception. So wavy boats quit talking about people stuffing the bows. I don't watch the channel for your bow stuffing but watch for all the beautiful boats you guys have over there.

What could he have done to avoid the stuff? Party at the dock. But, it's very possible they were partying in the bay and did this on purpose. We used to do it all the time. It seems obvious to me. Watch it again. He's not even trying to avoid it. The rougher the better. That's how a boat earns its chops. I accidentally hit a 15 foot wake at 30mph in a 26 footer. My boat earned it's chops by almost killing me, and that's what you want; not so much as a creak. LOL I heard a 100 foot Azimut ring like a bell once, I would've sold that boat. If you're ever caught in a storm, you'll feel much better about it if the boat has earned it chops. Believe me.

Didn't do too badly considering the nasty swell and chop. Maybe a little more throttle at times. Could easily have foundered by going too fast and burying nose.... like most of the, "Arm Chair Admirals" have suggested.

Quite a few of us have owned boats. It's what draws us here. And with a little trim and more speed, he would have been fine. And he did bury the bow. His bow is literally continually pointing directly into the trough, ready to be buried by the next wave.
