Yep a tooth pick is the best tool to use for paint chips. :) also some companies sell various paint chip repair sets like a little thimble to fill and the end has a little tip which fills up with paint and you simply dab it on the paint chips which is normally used on the bonnets, but use a tooth pick on the front end of the cars etc. :)

Agree, great video, but maybe I'm misunderstanding. You are spraying different types of removers over the same spots, so each remover, sprayed on after you have already sprayed on two rounds of other removers, would absolutely show it has removed more. IF you aren't showing the strength of each remover, then that's fine. I just want others to not make an assumption on what removers you are using and how strong they are. Well done. I use P21s and CQuartz, great to see them in action.

I was shown to test a painted car panel use prep sol and remove all the clear and waxes and then use your finger with a little water and run your finger down the painted surface and it should show no reflection and your finger should almost stick to the paint surface as you run it even with water as a lubricant. :) It will also be a faded appearance, thats if your going to paint the surface again. :)

Good video Sandro... It's good to see the coating standing up to all but the strongest solvents. It's confusing at times because there is so much contradictory information regarding coatings and I do acknowledge that every case is different and meanings can sometimes be lost in translation. I have seen videos from very reputable detailers saying a harsh car wash solution will remove coatings in a couple of months after weekly washes. I noticed one of your viewers reported removing Fusso using OPC 3:1. Would of loved to see it against the Cquazt in a test like this. The coating would win but be interested to see how long Fusso lasted mainly because I watched people trying to remove it with Megs Super Degreaser and 50% IPA and have little affect. As you know I am new to applying coatings and I have a question. If you apllied the coating to whole bonnet but found patch the size of 6" pad didn't set properly is it possible to remove just the area that hasn't set an reapply or would I remove from whole coating and do again?

@4G127 жыл бұрын
Stephen Carbonaro Frankly, it shows that for real world use of people who love their cars, have enough time to wash but not enough to completely reapply protection after every wash, good coatings are the only practical choice. Coatings have rendered waxes and sealants obsolete in terms of real world performance of cars that are actually used and not garage queens.
@stephencarbonaro54627 жыл бұрын
4G12 exactly. Every time I wash my car, just once, after waxing, I see how slow the water starts coming off. I follow up with a good spray sealant, but how much protection is that really providing. I just can't seem to find the time to coat both of my vehicles, but really want to get on it after the Pennsylvania winter.
@thetraindriver017 жыл бұрын
Stephen Carbonaro try geyon wet coat if you want something quick and easy to apply. I wash my cars weekly, the coating just sprays on to a wet car, pressure wash off and voila... a paint protection film that can last 2 - 3 months in the real world and feels nice and smooth, hope this helps 👍👍👍

Great info. How well does a ceramic coating hold up to harmful chemicals such as brake fluid. We all know brake fluid kills paint, would a ceramic provide any protection?
@LimitedWarranty6 жыл бұрын
Ceramic coatings are only effective when you have a good correction done or paint that is in good condition to new. I have used many products that claim to be a long term solution and ceramic coatings is not on my top list, So you can better understand a ceramic coating you need to look at it like a Teflon or ceramic coated frying pan, If I use daily it will wear out in less than a year, if it lasted 5 years it’s because I only used it once a month, Same thing with ceramic coats, you want it to last 5 years don’t wash it by hand or machine in fact don’t touch at all, don’t drive in the rain, don’t take it out during extreme weather conditions, keep it inside a garage, covered parking or better yet in a climate controlled bubble. I enjoy polishing and sealing my cars at least once a year, all my rides still look like new even after 18 years. And yes even my work truck looks good minus a few rock chips from daily wear.

I used P21S 100% carnauba wax ( also labeled as R222 in some countries) for the first time on my new 2020 black Silverado High Country, before applying the wax I spent 12 hours on paint correction due to dealer new car prep damage. I choose this wax based on reviews here on youtube, over the last 35 years I have tried most every wax, sealer, glass coating and polymer wax looking for that product that looks good and lasts, lets be honest, what good is a product if it only lasts a few weeks. We have all seen the water hose test done on newly waxed cars but that means nothing when it comes to durability. In April 2020 I applied the P21S to my entire truck, top surfaces were given 2 coats, by the end of May 2020 the wax was already gone from the hood and roof panels leaving them exposed to environmental damage, June 2020 I had to again paint correct the hood and roof due to hard water spotting into the paint requiring machine compounding then DA polishing. I might add that the truck was only washed 2 times in those 2 months using car wash soap and I live in the northeast so extreme sun was not the cause of the wax failure. Of all the coatings I have used in 35 years P21S rakes dead last in durability If you value your time and money P21S is not worth your while, on the other hand if your car never sees rain or stays in the garage then maybe this wax is for you.

curious, have you ever worked with TAC SYSTEM QUARTZ SHINE? pretty much the only coating that i can get without having to sell my house.
@andrewhallett-patterson97787 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the results are askewed and misleading. You are not using pure paint as all current coatings are clear over base, the clear acting as both a gloss, a base coating protectant, ie the colour, and acts as a low tension hydrophilic protectant, so you will never completely remove this phenomenon. The only professional techniques, those recognised by the research and development chemists, is to use a raw unprotected, meaning no clear, coated surface of uniform thickness. This will give pure, unmolested results. Secondly, all surface decontamination formulas will remove a microscopic layer of protective clear or unprotected paint. This is clearly measured in microns, easily proven thru thickness testing and cannot be replaced with neither aftermarket or professional products. The only way is to chemically replicate the orginal coating under laboratory conditions to stop rejection. Thirdly, you cannot add to nanotech finishes nor to SiO2 coatings. They are impervious and designed to deteriorate, otherwise known as sacrificial , over a number of years, the average life expectancy being between 4 and 6 years before the clear is no longer providing the sacrificial properties, and the base colour become sacrificial . Again, this depends on many factors and is the average given to Australian cars due to our extremely high UV exposure and high airbourne contaminates. I hope this give everyone a deeper insight.
@snail4153 жыл бұрын

Hi Sandro, another great video. Thanks for taking the time for putting it together. I have been researching the topic of decontamination lately (as preparation for applying a new ceramic coating). Here are a couple of questions for you: 1) Do you think that other APCs (Superclean, Meguiar's APC/Super degreaser, or Bilt Hamber surfex HD) would work as good as OPC? Would a dilution of 4:1 or 2:1 would be enough? 2) Have you had the opportunity to use Poorboy’s World Strip Down Wax Stripper? I haven't used it myself yet. You are supposed to wash your car as usual, spray the stripper, and then wash again. It looks like it can also strip ceramic coatings. Check this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIbPg5t9bZ2qiJY And more info here: www.autogeek.net/pb-strip-down.html I'm not sure if it is available in Australia but it would be great if you could test it.
