For teams like GSW that are hard capped at the first apron, I do wonder what restrictions they face on buyout players despite being under the apron? Also this apron rule is dumb. Trying to punish spending teams, you also punish players that want out and teams trying to arrange a buyout.

@@Gatorsssssss1 it’s less about the teams spending as it is about the players and the other teams. It’s a mutual agreement because it benefits both parties. That only works though if there is an actual market for the player. We have seen players being sent home without playing at all awaiting trades or buyouts. It’s not hard to see a scenario players are sent home from tanking teams and not having a market for a buyout now. The goal may be to restrict spending teams, but the result affects players and sometimes non spending teams.

@@snarkmark2806 I said the rule was dumb, never said anything about having the right. All buyouts require mutual agreement. However, a team does have the RIGHT to waive a player if they want to so you technically wrong in that sense. If a buyout cannot be reached a player could be waived and end up having no where to sign because of restrictions. Who is that really hurting? NBA, fans of players, and the player themselves? Spending teams may be the target doesn’t mean that’s the result.

The player who are bought out, become Unrestricted FAs. They can agree to go to any team (although there are restriction regarding 1st Apron and 2nd Apron teams being able to sign bought-out players who made above a certain salary).

If Chicago puts Lonzo out there? LA need to go get him. Before he got hurt, he was among the league leaders in 3’s, was an elite defender at the point, both exactly what LA needs. This year, Lonzo is shaking the rust off, but if he has a healthy offseason? Watch out. Ben Simmons? Id get either Ben Simmons or Ball. Ben Simmons was once considered untradeable, once thought of as the future of the league. In my opinion he’s been tanking until he controls his future.

you can’t trade dlo either unless it’s a package by himself or added with draft picks, you have to ask yourself if you are willing to do that… only player getting traded is cam johnson… dlo finishing szn off w the nets gives him a better opportunity to sign a better contract to go along with there plans of the draft and rebuilding the organization

If I was in that position I would take a pay cut or give back the money back just to get on a team that is going to win a championship 🏆 but it has to be a team that I want to play for I would do everything within my power to make sure I land on that team players do have power I would use that to my advantage and in every single way and I mean in every single way too

I think it's most likely Lonzo get bought out because there is no way any team is going to pay more for Lonzo, who's going to be a free agent. I think there's 2 reasons why Lonzo get bought out and that is he demands to be bought out himself or Bulls has no choice to buy him out because no one is dumb enough to trade for Lonzo and he does help winning which the Bulls are tanking at this moment, so it's counterproductive to continue keeping Lonzo
