Thanks for all your accuair videos. I’m a disabled vet and at the age of 70 I’m finally giving in and lowering the difficulty of the trails I ride and looking for a more comfortable ride. I’m going from a JL Rubicon to a Bronco (IFS benefits) and am considering the accuair system. I greatly appreciate the info you are providing. As an aside, you have excellent off-road driving skills, unlike a lot of the KZbin personalities who use speed and over-built vehicles to make up for their lack of skill. The “kids” need a good example, and you sir are.

So awesome how you were able to simply raise the whole rig to clear that ledge! The flex was really impressive ad well, no way did I think you’d get that much articulation. I honestly don’t fully understand how it can achieve it. Thanks for showing your test sessions!

Great job editing to the both of you! It’s great that you actually tested it like you wheel you own Jeeps. Interested to see how those airbags hold up to constant flexing on the trail. I like how these work per corner, very cool. Tire inflation is very cool too. This could be a nice upgrade for my RockLander build eventually. Shorter airbags integrated into a coilover would be a neat way to select ride height without making the spring too stiff. Airbags filled to max height tend to be very stiff and result in a pogo stick effect (like the Grand Cherokee TrailHawk) however these seem to still compress decently at taller ride heights. I bet you get better fuel economy on the highway If you lower the ride all the way down too.
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
Yup, when set to #1 which is 2" lower than the default height, you do see better fuel economy.

Probably the best solution for those that want to overland and light Rock crawling. It did well ( obviously not as good as a full coilover kit with long arm Suspension ) if all you're going to do is Rock crawl idk why anyone would buy a Gladiator to just do that... Air-Bags hold up well ( only downfall is getting oil on them. ) Not sure of the quality of the Air Compressor but it probably wouldn't hurt to buy an extra one ( just in case ) It also would be nice if they could design some sort of a Puck to stick under the bag to raise the Vehicle if Failure should happen to one of the bags. The Best kit out there for Versatility, hands down!

Very interesting, as a new sub I’ve got some ideas… While driving on an edge of a slope (as if going to flip) can you air up one side max and bottom out the opposite side to feel level inside just for kicks. Next when the front and rear opposite tires are free spinning or there about (stuck), add air to the compressed (grounded tires) to give traction back to the ones that has lost it. Being non rubicon think that would be an interesting test for many. Cant forget max payload and trailer tongue to test out the towing handling characteristics.

@wayalife how does the draglink account for the different ride heights? I assume the steering wheel straight ahead would change at different heights. There is a sensor in the steering that will activate limp mode as a traction control tactic if it's senses that the steering is too many degrees turned after certain speeds are reached in the case that the vehicle is in a side slide.
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
As I mentioned in our previous video, all the suspension and steering components are set for the default ride height, setting #2. At setting #1, there isn’t enough of a change in geometry to affect steering and you can drive at all speed without issue. Riding on the bump stops or at maximum height, setting #3, you can only drive at speeds of 25 mph or under. In other words, below the threshold that would trigger the traction control system.
@GatorOverland Жыл бұрын

Air suspension is great until a bag gets punctured, compressor fails, an air line or height sensor fails. I know it definitely has a cool factor, however it also adds a lot more things to fail. I've owned a Lincoln Mark VIII with factory 4 corner air suspension and it rode great, but all bags had to be replaced due to age. My Expedition has factory rear air suspension which is great since it automatically levels when towing. I've also replaced the bags 3 times over it's 20 year life. On another Mark VIII a small piece of glass somehow found it's way between the cup and bag which caused it to puncture and this was on the street. Imagine all the rocks and debris off road, this would be a big concern for me. Also the huge upfront cost.
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
All I can say is that ACCUAIR is so confident in their system that they will warranty their air pistons for 100k miles. Also, we've been testing hard off road and for well over 5k miles. So far, we've seen no problems what so ever with rocks and debris and yes, we have been looking.

Interesting to see the system at work. What is or is supposed to keep the tires out of the fenders? What is acting as a compression bump stop?
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
Umm, bump stops are designed to prevent the over compression of your coils. As in, they keep your coils from squishing down to the point where they do not return back to their original height. The fact that they 'can' also prevent fender rub is a perk. This kit has bump stops but still allows for a ton of stuff. That is why you are seeing rubbing. On my other Jeeps with coilovers, the fix is to TRIM THE FENDERS to allow for more rub free stuff 😎
@John90XJ Жыл бұрын
@@wayalife Looking at the perk side of the bump stop, I was curious if Accuair had a way to prevent over-compression into the fender and how they accomplish it. Thanks for the reply.
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
They do not and I personally wouldn't recommend it. Doing so would be like purposefully limiting the amount of travel your suspension has - the only you just paid all that money to get and just to prevent some fender rub. Installing a set of Rubicon fenders would fix the problem too.

Have you ever tried the apex swaybar disconnect? I put them on my mojave and so far I really like them. Of course I dont do anything near as extreme as you. I would love to see you run them through a test. I am curious to see if they can hold up to extreme rock crawling and how much flex you can get out of them.
@wayalife8 ай бұрын
I haven't tested them out but everyone who has seems to love them. Me, I personally like running the factory e-disco kzbin.info/www/bejne/maXLZpx8iLV7jMU

@@wayalife If I had your knowledge and place to work I would love them too. But I am limited on know how and working in my driveway. Now. What do you think about a front locker for the mojave? Is it worth it or neccassary? I have to command track which I know isnt as good but will it get me everywhere with a little more effort?
@wayalife8 ай бұрын
If you follow the steps in this video, you have all the know how that you'll need and all of this can be done in a driveway. A locker is only needed IF you play on really big rocks.

This may be a little long. I like the concept. It seems to work. Moby on the other hand is amazing. But over the years I have seen what you put into Moby (still my favorite) Moby was in keeping it tight. This is cool. I would stick with Moby wayalife. Eddie thank you for another fantastic video. Oh one last thing Jane. Do you still drive her?
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
LOL - oh yeah, we love Jane and drive her all the time. We just don't make videos of everything we do with her.

Very cool!! What are the negatives to running this kit outside of the price and possible air leaks?
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
Cost is definitely the biggest negative but if you watch all the other videos that we've made testing this kit, I think you will find there aren't too many others.

Nice. Answered my questions. I'm ready; just need my bank account to be ready too, as with all mods.

It does flex!

I have to admit, surprising even for me.

Very interested in this system as it does have a lot of perks. My question is how does it so in the fast two tracks over whoops? Particularly lateral stability.
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
If driving hard and fast across the desert is what you need your Jeep to do, you really should be looking at something like what EVO makes for long arms and coilovers. Yes, this air suspension system is versatile but it's more of a glorified standard coil and shock setup - NOT a double throw down system.
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
I should add that we will show this Jeep in that kind of terrain in future videos just so that you can see it.
@realbob6669 Жыл бұрын
On bumps/humps how does it feel? Must be better than traditional lift kit but less than the EVO high speed kit you tested couple weeks ago?
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
You are correct. This suspension system is not nor is it trying to be a set of coilovers. It rides nicer than stock but no where near as fast as coilovers. We have a video on this coming soon.
@socratesliriano9852 Жыл бұрын
Awesome video!!! Did you have the air suspension all the way up the whole time including when you got stuck?
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video. No, I ran most of what we did on setting #2. The default ride height. I did go up to #3 from time to time too.

@@wayalife Thank you for replying back. Would it had made a difference in performance and the articulation if you would have had it in its highest setting when doing the more difficult crawls? Sorry for asking but this thing, intrigues me. I never thought I would subscribe to anyone, but you are the first person I ever subscribed to.
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
I don't think so. When you're at max setting, the ride is a bit too firm - bouncy even and that wouldn't help in articulated situations. Plus, I had one rear tire totally dropped into a hole and the other stuffed. If I had aired up the one side that was stuffed, it would have put me into the wall on the driver side.

Nice video But it seemed to me like for the most part (except the time you stopped to raise it) that you were in the lowest setting of the accuair system while wheeling. How would it do if you took the entire ride at the highest position ?? Again, great video . . .
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
Actually, we were running most of the trail in the default setting #2. Going to #3 would offer too harsh of a ride. Fine for crawling but not ideal for moving fast across the desert.

My Jeep is a JKU 4 DR and she’s my Daily Driver. How are the manners on the Street? I’m so torn between this System vs a Clayton Lift w/ SDI-ECLICK PRO. Thoughts my Friends? I just found your Videos recently thanks for the awesome content. Peace

Street manners are great. Super comfortable and stable. Way better than most of the lift kits that I've installed and tested over the last 25+ years.

JK vs JL ! which platform do you like more? Biggest concern I do have is a power train. 3.6L v6 vs 2.0 turbo! And I wondering 10 speed auto gear box is reliable enough? I do make my comparison between JK and JL and also Bronco vs Wrangler. Any tips for me? I will not go extreme as you do but overall quality for on-road and off-road as a beginner? Any tips for me?
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
If you're even considering a JL, that's what I would get and with a 3.6L. Also, it's got an 8 speed automatic transmission and it's actually amazing in how much power it provides. So far, I have not seen or heard of any issues with it.
