Thanks for the tip. The best solution, though, is to get the correct wheels with the correct offset. I hate the idea of increasing my turn radius and maneuverability. Before installing my front stubby bumper. I found slight rubbing between the bumper filler and the larger 35". Filler removed, problem solved. Thanks for the good tips!
@wayalife2 жыл бұрын
These are factory wheels and so they are the correct offset. Installing aftermarket wheels with different offset or less back spacing will move the steering axis inclination and that will adversely affect your scrub radius. They will also move the wheel center line and that will create more leverage and cause your ball joints and unit bearings to wear out prematurely. Clearly, with 35" tires or bigger, there are sacrifices that need to be made to clear components on your Jeep but that doesn't mean they are "correct".

Just about to buy my first Jeep, and trying to decide if I can go with a Sport rather than a Willys, though I would want to upsize the tires. Do I understand correctly that if the sway bar had remained stock as well as the front bumper, there shouldn’t have been any rubbing?
@wayalife22 күн бұрын
To be fair, there was barely even any rubbing with what you see in this video. That said, it really depends on the tire size you run, how wide the tread is, how tall it is and even what brand it is as some are smaller than what is advertised.
@Dnasty1 Жыл бұрын
You are lucky your car is so high I have a lowered coupe and i'm trying to diagnose rubbing. To make it even more difficult it only does it when i'm not moving and holding the brake and turning close to or at full lock. I am not sure if it does it while driving because I would never turn that wide while going any significant speed but also it does not make this noise when I put the car in park and turn lock to lock. Only when holding the brake with some weight load on the suspension i'm assuming is causing this issue to present itself.

Excellent videos Eddie , thanks for doing them!!! Quick question , would you do a 2 in mopar lift on pippy? and why? thanks!!!

My 2-door Wrangler Sport arrives in a week. I'd like to remain stock except to switch out tires to BFG K02s, preferably the 285/70r17 size. Did you change the control arms in Pippi when you added your 285/70s? Is that necessary to keep factory alignment? Also, how much were your mileage and acceleration affected by the added size and weight?
@wayalife4 ай бұрын
Jeep uses the same control arms even with 2" of lift and 35" tires as you will find on an XR package. So no, I did not change them out and there is no need to. Tire size will NOT affect alignment. Power loss was minimal and if you are getting your Jeep with an automatic, it will be negligible. I would recommend that you recalibrate your speedometer with something like a Jscan though.
@sharonmay62894 ай бұрын
@@wayalife Thanks for your answer. My new Jeep Sport will be a manual transmission. How much will my mpg be diminished by the 285/70 tires?
@wayalife4 ай бұрын
@@sharonmay6289 It really depends on the type of tread your tires will have than size. An aggressive mud terrain will have more rolling resistance than an all terrain and they will hurt your fuel economy more. Otherwise, not too much.

@@wayalife Thanks, that's good to know. I plan on putting on BFG K02s. The 255/75 weighs 46 lbs, and the 285/70 weighs 51 lbs. I'm using the stock wheels. These tires compare to the OEM at 32 lbs, so I worry about adding 19 lbs. at each corner.

@kriptnite7510 ай бұрын
Shouldn’t the stops both touch at the same time at full lock
@wayalife10 ай бұрын
Umm, yes, the tie rod connects both sides and that is the exact reason why only ONE steer stop would touch at a full lock. As far as some kind of 'strain' goes, I have no idea what you might be imagining. Sorry.
