Waylon and Johnny Cash were once roommates. Both had a bout with addiction. This raid/event happened in a recording session. The up-tempo version of this song was a hit single for Waylon. This version was on a posthumous album.

Oh, my! I absolutely love this newer and wildly different interpretation of a song that I've long loved. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

His step-grandson, Struggle Jennings, did a remix of this version. That's how I discovered Struggle and became a fan.

A true country artist, heart and soul. Definitely in the top five of all time. I think Willie and Kris Kristofferson are the last of the original outlaws.

The original version and best version of this song is called "Dont yall think this outlaw bit has done got out of hand" was recorded in 1978. Its the original and much much faster and so much better in my opinion. This version was recorded in around 2008, name shortened and slowed way down. Harri you need to check out the original for sure.

I actually don't like that version. I like this newer version. It hits, and strikes the mood of the lyrics more appropriately.

Newer version was recorded around ‘96 with basically just an acoustic and his vocals, Waylon died in ‘02, & then Shooter stumbled upon it around ‘06-‘07 and got his backing band The .357’s to play on it and hired Dave Cobb to produce it who was still very early in his career as a producer.

Harri you picked the studio version. The live version is much more up beat and more of his style.

Harri the original song recorded in 1978 is call "Dont yall think this outlaw bit has done got out of hand" it's so much faster. This was recorded later on in Waylons career, around 2008 . Its basically the same lyrics and shortened name....and much much slower.

His step-grandson, Struggle Jennings, did a rap remix of this song with Yelawolf. It's really good, and that's how I discovered Struggle a little over 10 years ago. But when I checked the comment section afterwards, I had read that he just got thrown into prison after that video for a huge drug bust, and he was sentenced to like 5 years. I was bummed and I thought it would take forever for that years to go by, but it seemed like time sped forward and I rediscovered him doing awesome collaborations with Jelly Roll. I think the "Fall in the Fall" video with Jelly Roll was the first time I seen him again after prison, and I was blown away by how much he changed physically and vocally.. He also did a song called "The Good Die Young" which had some things reminiscent to his "Outlaw Shxt" remix. It felt like I watched his life do a full 180° over the years.

I like Shooter Jennings, however, Struggle can go f himself. Hoodlum thuggery isn't what the whole outlaw thing was about in any meaning of how they did it
