I’m 56, and I’m telling you Conway has been unappreciated and underrated for a very long time. I always knew what we had in him. But the teens and young adults were so cruel, I simply kept my music choices to myself. In doing so, I learned to appreciate their music and broaden my own musical tastes. I am everything from old time gospel to disturbed and everything in between. Imma musical sammich lover 😂

Yes Conway had more deep feeling than other 2. But Bryce was better than Blake in my estimation. Conway reached down in his soul of tears and sorrow with this song. In concert when he was given an award...live on stage. Deeper than his recotding! Such talent.

A few others I would add to that list are Waylon up until the 90s when his health started causing him problems, Roy Orbison, Dwight Yoakam for much of his career, George Jones when he was sober into the early 2000s, Don Williams, The Everly Brothers, Tom Jones for nearly his entire career, Vince Gill and there are others...but when one thinks about how many artists there have been since the mid 20th century they are truly the exception and not the rule.

I got to see him 2 times in the 70s once with Loretta and once just him and his band and i'll never forget either he was a true country artist, and today there are a few left, Blake Shelton being one keeping it real and he does justice to this song in his way

He made you believe that he had lived every single line even if he hadn't. As Porkchop (his drummer) was heard announcing at the beginning of every show for at least the last 20yrs of his career, he truly was "The Greatest Friend A Song Ever Had".
