This is a video I (Josh Newcom) directed, filmed and edited for Warpaint Films when Wayne was out opening for Jamey Johnson, so i just went on the bus with them and shot alot of footage. Some of Jamey's band actually played on Wayne's cd so they made guest appearances.....

I never really got to know Wayne,but I recently started playing with his former guitarist and very close friend,Kyle Wilson. Since playing with Kyle I've gotten to meet a lot of people from many different areas that love Wayne very much. Also,I've gotten to play several of Wayne's songs as well. I truly wish I had gotten to know Wayne better than I did. I first met him last Sept in a Nashville recording studio. At the time I was the drummer for Joey Allcorn. Joey was producing a compilation album for the Hank Williams museum,and I played one most of the tracks. One of those tracks was a cover of "Are you sure Hank done it that way?",and Joey,Wayne,and Kyle Wilson all sang on it. Very very cool track,for sure. After that,I talked with Wayne a few times on Facebook,but that was the extent of it. I remember just how horrible it felt when I heard the news,and I barely knew the man. I can't imagine how so many that really knew him felt. Since playing with Kyle,I've really gotten to know Wayne's friends and his music. Wayne really is a legend. I truly wish I could have known him better.

The owner of the bar was the shooter. Allegedly over Wayne lighting a cigarette in a "non-smoking" section. Oh for pity's sake.....sounds like the bar owner has a sense of "entitlement" - what a jerk and now a murderer. Bet those cigarettes will look mighty good to the owner when he is in prison.
