I love everything about this set. But, just to highlight one thing, Brian Blade continually amazes me. He's got to be one of the crispest and most creative drummers I've ever heard, and I include the historic "greats" in that assessment. Beyond that, Wayne is on another planet and the whole band interacts in ways that make my hair stand on end.

This is a great video! But the first song is in fact "Sanctuary". "Go" then starts at about 6:57. Then at 10:47 they go into "Chief Crazy Horse". From 18:40 they do "Valse Triste". At 23:52, Wayne Shorter queues up "Masqualero" after which Brian Blade does what only Brian Blade can do. "Masqualero" starts properly near 25:00. Shorter then queues up "Aung San Suu Kyi" at 31:42. They then finish with "Ju Ju" from 44:40.

This music is strictly reactionary. Everything depends on not only your skill level but on your understanding of music appreciation and not just of jazz history. If you were hoping to listen to something to tap your foot to, look elsewhere because this isn't it. Different rules, different guidelines yet the same as it ever was. That which cannot be rationalized must be expressed.

Nothing is static; some things mutate and evolve. Such has been the wont of Joe Zawilnul, Miles Davis, and Herbie Hancock. Taking up the evolutionary cudgel musically is Wayne Shorter, progressively creative, pensive and probative. Amanda "Chick" Corea is a part of this evolutionary endeavor, which has been experimented with by the likes of Ornette Coleman, Don Cherie, Joe Harriot, Archie Shepp, Sonny Rollins, Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Sam Newsome - among others.

This trio backing up Wayne refuse to let the music breathe. They continuously over play and are far toooo busy. They obstruct Wayne's beautiful compositions.
