Just want to make something clear as it seems not everyone is watching the full video or misunderstanding the point. I use tretinoin. I love it. It's a great ingredient. But is it the miracle skin smoothing, wrinkle erasing ingredient that KZbin says it is? I don't think so. And I've been using it for 10 years. My point is that if you're making a video about how amazing tretinioin is and using before and after photos (showing wrinkle reduction) then one should be honest about whatever else one might have been doing or using. If you're comparing a photo from 10 years ago, or 5 or 2 (you get the drift) but in that time you've had botox, laser, peels, IPL, filler etc... then how you can say 100% that the improvement in wrinkles is from tretinoin and not the aforementioned? Thats the point I'm making. It's not that tretinoin isn't good. It is. But please let's be more honest about the other things that might have contributed to the wrinkle reduction.

@@CoCo.Sizemore Nothing works in the sense that it would stop you from looking your age, and that's a no-brainer. WOW I wonder how old she really is?" But it then turns out she is 41. BIG DEAL looking like 38 when you are 41 😆 Nowadays most women in that age group look 5-6 years younger without any treatments. @@cultmamacultmama3571that's not a written in stone "no brainer" truth at all. Particularly if you have a skin condition like acne, rosacea, etc. Products that work for your skin will prevent scarring, discoloration, etc and improve the look and feel of your skin, which absolutely does prevent and minimize damage that contributes to how old you look. Acid peels can have incredible results (though much more so if you can get clinical treatments.) Simply wearing sunscreen alone reduces the most obvious avoidable cause of visible aging, THAT seems like a "no-brainer" to me. The important takeaway is simple: "manage your expectations." Looking mid-thirties when you are early forties is great. Who are you to say that's not enough? What matters is how a person feels about themselves. If they look and feel 5 years younger and that makes them happy, I don't see a need to cut people down because it's not dramatic enough to impress YOU.

Exactly. For people with real skin issues, like bad melasma/pigmentation, sun damage or acne/acne scars, once they sort them out it's a huge difference. However, if skin doesn't have any prominent issues, it's hardly any difference. I agree that people have self induced placebo in majority of cases - they talk themselves into believing that they have great results. I've been watching people with equally large pores and not so great texture after decades of using retinoids. They feel those are great results, because one scar is less prominent or few discolorations are gone. And those results suppose to be worth decades of skin barrier challenging, damages, inflammation, sensitivities, irritations, tons of money for 'good' product and equally good SPF since you can't enjoy life without bathing ten times a day in sunscreen, once you are on retinoids. Is it really worth it? I'd say - if your skin is not reactive, if using retinoid is not a torture for you and you truly see results and feel better about yourself - by all means. However, please consider visiting a professional and trying out in-office treatment, before you embark on tretinoin journey. One chemical peel, as horrendous as down time may be in a sense of peeling, can save you ton of money and patience for tretinoin to give you results. Especially if you have scarring, deep wrinkles, or prominent discolorations.

There are chemical peels you could try. A nurse at my job (I'm an assistant nurse) works part time as a dermatologist and he gives my collegues (those who need/want it) treatments on their breaks etc. It only takes a couple of minutes and the treated skin will peel off within a week and during that time you'll have to use a thick crème and avoid the sun. When the new spotless skin comes to the surface you'll have to use sunscreen everyday but that is something one should do anyway.

Thanks for your honesty. Due to COVID, as many people, I've watched a ton of videos on beauty. I've noticed one thing. We can look younger for our age, but we all age. No 40 year old will ever look like a 20 year old. I love make up and skincare. As someone who had terrible psoriasis as a kid, I'm grateful for the clear skin I have. I didn't get wrinkles early but I am getting them and a part of feeling good was accepting some aging. I think worrying about age too much causes so much anxiety, it's not worth it. I do think knowing what can and cannot be achieved and being realistic with your own skin is the key to a happier existence.

I think a lot of ppl in the comments are misunderstanding Wayne’s statement. He’s not saying tret isn’t amazing for the skin, it is and I use tret myself. But when we’re watching videos of creators where their muscles in the face aren’t moving and it’s clear they’ve had Botox then that is exactly what he’s talking about. We know a lot of you haven’t had a procedure and therefore this statement doesn’t apply to you. But it’s the creators that are blatantly lying saying tret has done miracles for their skin when actually they’ve had other aesthetic work along side tret.

He’s talking about Jennifer Myers. I am in my late 20s and starting my retinol journey. It appears to me that Tret whilst it is the most studied anti-aging drug, the caveat is that Tret requires chronic sunscreen use which in of itself is the most effective anti-aging treatment. So it’s a chicken and egg conundrum really.

Even 6 or more months later. And that was after 1 time, & you figure these people have been getting it for years. I’m 48, no fillers, botox or peels etc ever. I spent the first half of my life facially disfigured because of an early childhood accident. My nerves are in different places because of that. For example anaesthetic for a tooth filling paralyses that side of my face for hours. I have to tape my eye closed because I can’t blink. So no Botox! I also have multiple autoimmune inflammatory diseases, and my immune system will reject filler as an intruder. Red light masks burn my stupid skin. I’ve been using dermatica for a few years and had good results in terms of less hormonal breakouts that comes with middle age. Does it stop wrinkles? I don’t think so, not in my experience with only using this ingredient with good moisturiser.

I agree with you 100%! I’ve never seen a line disappear because of tretinoin use. As a matter of fact, I get new lines every year (I’m 50) Lol! I think tretinoin CAN help with texture and discoloration issues because it increases the rate of cell turnover. However, I think elasticity and volume loss is the biggest culprit when it comes to our aging faces.☹️ I will still continue to use it, but I’m glad you made this video! 😊❤️🌺

Well I think the general rule is not to take any advice from influencers. He does say tretinoin doesn’t prevent fine lines and it does prevent them by boosting collagen. My skin turns over ever night rather than every 28 days, and that makes a huge difference in how elastic my skin is compared to if I didn’t use tretinoin.

@queenbunnyfoofoo61126 ай бұрын
@@marielfalk4537 I didn't say don't take care of your skin. My point (and the other poster's) is that NO ONE who is 60 can look 30. Women are propagandized to fear natural aging. Not everyone can use Tretinoin, nor can they afford it ( some prefer to spend their money on something else). The idea that society has normalized the idea of injecting botulism into your face or other unnatural stuff in there is sad. The best way to take care of your skin is to eat a healthy diet, exercise, don't smoke and wear sunscreen. Not only will your skin be healthy, the inside of you will be too.
@standdownrobots_ihaveoldglory6 ай бұрын
@@marielfalk4537actually, for most people, their skin turns over just fine for proper function. I think you are confusing aesthetics and true health. My mom is very old and wrinkly but her skin barrier is shockingly strong, and she only applies face moisturizer when she has peeling skin. She has had zero facial skincare her entire life, she has had three skin cancer spots removed, and rarely used SPF on pale skin, and her skin barrier is healthy. Our skin really doesn't need much. When people died of skin injuries and problems, it was because of infection. Usually people with painful or life threatening skin issues have complex illnesses like AIDS. No one otherwise healthy is suffering physically because they didn't use tretinoin 😂 I fear for a generation who thinks that not being hot is an illness 😂

I completely agree with you, it’s not a miracle product. Aging is a combination of things such as changes in bone structure, loss of volume, texture, and complexion. I am 35 and I’ve been using tretinoin for about 10 years. For me, Tretinoin alone was great about delaying the starting signs of aging. My texture and complexion have remained the same for years. In the past 2years, my 11(genetic) have been showing lightly (because of fat loss and tension in the area) I’ve been using Botox for that. I think we have to be realistic about the treatment to our concerns. You don’t use a band aid when you need a cast.
