How to Punch In Using Quick Punch and Auto Punch In Logic Pro X | Recording Vocals

For punch in you enable your track then you press play and when you want to punch in you just hit "R" on the keyboard and for punch out you use "Shif R" and thats it.

@@MrAdking100 Its because you need to enable your track, that means in the track that you are gonna be recording the red "R" botton that it next to the solo and mute botton need to be turn on so you can punch in without that pause

I remember a while back some engineer talking about how Justin Timberlake would record a section, then just punch in the parts he wanted to redo, but never figured out how to do it in Logic, never used Pro Tools so my only way was Comping vocals, thanks for the quick tip!

Hey bro, you can easily punch in and out using "R-key". Make sure you have the "Record/Record Toggle" Checked. Also, make sure "Allow Quick Punch-In" is checked. Press play with the spacebar and then you can punch in and out by pressing the "R" key.

super cool explanation! thanx! I think hitting the spacebar gets you out of the punch - but the song also stops playing. Maybe you want the song to continue while you are not recording anymore - but I don't know how to do that.

Open up keyboard shortcuts window and apply the punch out to whatever shortcut you like...You could also use iPhone or iPad with logic remote and set up buttons just for vocal recording session. If the latency is too big over wifi you can connect to the computer using a usb cable

mine isn't working the same. command space or command alone doesn't start the punch in feature for me even with everything turned on the way it should be. and the main thing is , whenim going to punch in the track im punching in on goes completely silent to where I can't hear any of what I just said. its like im not really punching in at all. every other DAW has no problem doing this EFFORTLESSLY but this has been a hassle bro.
