it’s a little funny. i get not liking his content or not wanting to watch it all the time- it can ruin the fun. BUT BUT BUT. he’s not negative himself nor is he being overly negative. he is just being incredibly realistic and saying it like it is. if the sims 4 didn’t suck then there would be no need for constant critique. but most simmers critique the sims 4, either casually or a lot. we need people like satch and the community in the sims 4 community, because the sims 4 does suck. it can be very fun to play sometimes but it does suck and it’s very lacklustre, especially in comparison to its previous iterations.

Gameplay-wise, The Sims 3 is superior in every way. But The Sims 4 has a really good build mode and CAS and the graphics are more pleasant to the eyes. But that's it.

I think it also depends on if you grew up with the sims 2 or 3, I never played them and was an adult by the time I started playing sims 4. I’ve tried getting into the sims 3 because a friend gave me the bg and some packs for free but I just can’t get into it 😭

Honestly, as much as I love The Sims 3, when I play it I immediately miss some features from The Sims 4. Each Sims game has its own strengths and weaknesses, that are a product of when they were made. If the tiny details that went into The Sims 2 (when the game was made for players) were in The Sims 4, with the best features of The Sims 3... the game would be near-perfect.

They have the potential to make fixing them up/upgrading them/racing a hobby. I know it's a BIG part of some people's lives. (The fact that this concept would be an entire $40 expansion pack, knowing EA, though... Lol.) It could also be fun for family gameplay to teach teens to drive. Even just watching Sims give in/out of the car and drive to the end of the world would be better than just watching them teleport.

Honest question here - can you please give examples of what is considered multitasking? Sometimes I can’t get my sims to do anything at all, never mind more than one thing at a time; the closest I’ve noticed is my sims staring at their phone when they’re supposed to be talking to someone (and that’s just an idle animation that’s a bit rude; they aren’t accomplishing anything on their phone). So I always hear that Sims 4 sims can multitask, but I’m not seeing it and wonder what I’m missing. 😅

You know what I miss the most? Create-A-Style. Not only can you make your furniture match or modify base clothes to your liking with patterns and fabrics. It also was a great foundation for later additions like the Sculptor or Artisan skill. Instead of making unique items for these new skills, they could just switch the materials of already existing items. That meant every item in the game can potentially be made with these skills. Also some items are very adaptable. Like the Architect table. It doesn't just makes architect stuff... you can also paint and make clothes design on it. Instead of having three objects, you just need one. (That said, painting in particular has been improved over the years. Sims 2 only had one size (on the other hand... you could add in your own photos and have your Sim make a custom painting... I miss that feature) while Sims 3 had three sizes. Then Sims 4 came and added in painting styles which does expand what you can do by a lot.) Also... at what point was the previous games NOT approachable by mods? You could just drag and drop Sims 2 packages too! It didn't need any special tricks. Sims 2 even came with Bodyshop.... a program to make CC with, shipped with the game itself. Sims 3 only need a framework to work with package files (while Sims3package files are natively supported. The launcher unpacks and installs for you.) You think Sims 4 is more approachable by mods because of Curseforge?... It wasn't there from the start. CurseForge only started supporting Sims 4 in the last few years... before then it was just Minecraft and World of Warcraft. Like, previous games had huge communities where you could find mods. ModTheSims, Simlogical, Awesome, NRaas, TSR.... Yeah in the Sims 2 days CC was kept behind paywalls. But that only changed because EA made an updated TOS that forbids CC from being kept behind paywalls. And honestly... in the Sims 2 days, people made stuff behind paywalls available through other means anyway. I disagree with cross-pack interactions too. Sims 4 is not the best. In fact I find that Sims 3 is better by a mile as far as cross-pack content goes. Sims 4 in fact lacks things that should be obvious cross-pack content! You can't make a werewolf club without mods. You can't make a bowling alley. The climbing wall increases your athletics, not your rock climbing. Not to mention that some of the lot traits only makes sense in some worlds, and not others. Like the Creepy Crawlies one. It spawns jungle adventure creeps... that you can't protect yourself against because you need to go to that world to buy the stuff.

I think scenarios was a good idea, they just halfheartedly implemented it and abandoned it like every other good idea they have. They could have used it as challenges like 100 baby, black widow etc. They could have even made it give rewards like these annoying log in events so that its an incentive to play through each scenario at least one time but without the useless stress of doing it within a certain time frame. They could have even been used to replace those useless tutorial aspirations so aspirations could be less tutorial focused.

Even though I feel The Sims 4 has turned into such a cash grab, and lacks gameplay features and animations, there are also nice features in it. It'a important to accept those too and give credit. Sims 3 has the same multitasking. Your sims improve their relationships by eating at the same table or sitting next to each other. I don't know what "multitasking" is or what to compare it to, other than conversations, which in The Sims 4 means characters spend more time on basic needs like eating. In conclusion, we can say that The Sims 4 has no advantage.

that awkward moment when sims buildings have more personality than the sims... Sidenote but I wish sims could have "sim challenges" as opposed to five trait slots and maybe "traits" like lactose intolerant, vegetarian, practice makes perfect could be there because I like them in concept but I hate them being personality traits. Their more like quirks and things that make ur sim unique and add challenge to your gameplay. In general the sims 4 needs a massive Trait overhall cause some traits I like but some just are so boring and only affect ur sims moods, which is fine for traits like gloomy, or hot headed but other traits lack in a lot of ways and basically mean nothing. I like the jealous trait for example but the sims team has forgotten abt it cause why can jealous sims change romantic boundaries? The more the game updates the more base game traits feel like they mean nothing.

i made myself a 'cursed trait' it basicly adds almost all the wizards curses to a sim without being a wizard (without the green ugly skin from one of the curses) and add all the negative lottraits and play that sim, it becomes a real challenge. the lot trais make everything break all the time, without power alot of objects dont work, your needs drop faster, other sims puke all the time because your sim is ugly, and the hysterical laughter make your sims stop what they do from time to time.

theres so much i love about the sims 4, i just wish it had a little bit more challenge to it, personally. early game struggle is so fun for many games, and the sims 3 was balanced enough that starting lots genuinely felt cramped, and the struggle for money was much more present. i used to set my sim up with a computer, and when he wasnt working, he was writing or painting just for the extra cash.

Build mode is way better, but being unable to customize your world is atrocious and makes it so you have to play how they want you to play, in the time period they want you to play. It basically detracts from what made sims the sims - "play how you want, build the story you want". They won't even offer us cars, even just as decor, because "it doesn't make sense from a gameplay pov" - what kind of asinine nonargument is that? What about my story? That doesn't matter, right? I can't make a repairs shop, can't have a vintage car collector, can't have a poor guy splurge on his expensive car, no no... eff my stories, I have to play how they tell me to.

I played Sims 3 for a while this morning. Besides the fact that it crashed before even loading the first time, saying it needed Origin to start, I started a brand new game and it was incredibly laggy right away. I was in the dragon world, and couldn’t find any wild plants at all, which was one of my sim’s wants. The dragons were kind of fun, but zombies ate all my plants on the third day. Overall, I didn’t have a great experience. And the Sims 3 store is severely overpriced. I’d love to get the worlds in the store, but they would cost me $25-$40 CAD just for the world. I’m not willing to spend that much for anything less than a full game pack.

Ah, I have to disagree about Sims 4 build mode being so great for beginners; coming from Sims 3, I had to look up so many tutorials to get the roofs right, I hate that you have to do extra steps if you just want to draw your fence instead of building a room first (having that be the default automatically makes Sims 4 less user friendly), and I still don’t understand why building a foundation requires picking your house up and then choosing a “foundation paint” - it makes me feel like my houses are all floating on curtains!😅. It’s fine once you get the hang of it, but I wouldn’t say it’s any easier or more user friendly than the build modes of earlier Sims games. The only thing I really like about it is that it’s easier to put a staircase into a basement through your floating foundation. 😆 I do like the “Simple Living” lot trait; in fact, since playing with it in Sims 4, I now always play with it in Sims 3 as well (I just have to keep myself honest). I do like the infant life stage (that’s what got me to give Sims 4 another try). And I do like that you can put any hat on any hairstyle (what I want now is long hairstyles that obviously match up dos). And I have enjoyed playing rags to riches challenges in Sims 4. But other than that, for me, Sims 3 is superior! (Yes, even when it comes to aesthetics - if your computer can manage graphics on high without lagging, Sims 3 is a visually stunning game; Sims 4, with its bright colors and simplified plants, will always look too much like a kids’ cartoon to me.)

Well all I can say is I am brand new to Sims 4 and PC gaming. I played Sims 1, Sims 2, Bustin Out and the Urbz on PS2 and many Sims games and spin offs on GBA, DS and 3DS. As I started my Sims 4 journey on Christmas Eve 2024, I have been playing every day, I am acclimated to it and I love it, foibles and all. I’ve had some wild times! I bought the base game of Sims 3 for gaming PC too, but haven’t bothered to play it yet. I would love honest opinions if I should dive right into it? Will my Simming experience improve drastically? 🧐

If you played everything except TS3, you must have had a reason not to. I only played the pc games (TS 1-4 and Medieval) and believe 3 is the best one. The open world makes it feel alive. I loved the Sims 2 and had every pack but as soon as the Sims 3 base game released, I never played 2 again. I still play 3, though. Many people prefer the low poly Sims 4 graphics, but I personally prefer the details and textures. It makes things more realistic. A lot of Sims 4 players are not used to that anymore. Others complain about the “potato sims”, but that’s primarily people who prefer taking close ups and screenshots instead of playing the game. (Also, there’s mods.) Things like that never really mattered in the old games(as you well know), because you’ll be watching from above anyway. The gameplay feels so engaging, you don’t waste time to create a ‘cute’ outfit or build the ‘coziest’ home. That just feels boring compared to live mode. In conclusion, I strongly recommend TS3. But.. if you don’t like the aesthetics and prefer TS4s sandbox to TS2s gameplay-focused play style, it might be 15 years too late for you. 😊 Since you already own it, add a few mods and give it a go. Chances are, you get hooked! 😉

I know this might not be a popular opinion, but I honestly like Sims 4 more than the other Sims games. Don’t get me wrong, I think every Sims game has its charm and its flaws. Sims 2 is so detailed! It’s definitely the most detailed of them all! And it gives me such a wave of nostalgia every time I think about it. The lore? Incredible. But if I want to actually enjoy playing it now, I feel like I need to install so many mods just to make it look better, play better, and have more stuff. And then there’s Sims 3. I absolutely love the open world! It’s such a cool feature, and it makes the game feel so immersive... except I can’t play it. No matter what I do! Mods, tweaking settings, you name it. It starts lagging like crazy after 20-30 minutes, and it’s just unplayable for me. Sms 4, though? Yeah, it’s not perfect. The lore isn’t great, there’s no open world, and it’s not as detailed as Sims 2. But it has so much content, and I never have to deal with lag or crashes, which is a big deal for me. Plus, I don’t need mods to enjoy it. I can just use my imagination to create my own stories, and I love that. I don’t use cheats either, and I usually play with legacies (but not those super strict challenges that make the game feel like a chore). Every time I play, I find something new I didn’t know about, and it keeps things exciting. So yeah, for me, Sims 4 is the best experience overall. I know it’s not for everyone, and that’s okay-we all have our own favorites!

Four biggest improvents imo: 1. Cas mode 2. Build mode (controversially, i do not miss the colourwheel in build mode, it was extremely overwhelming. I would prefer it for limited features, like hair, or outfits) 3. Graphics/style 4. Sims being able to doing multiple things at once. when i tried the sims 3 one of the main downsides was only being able to interact with 1 sims at a time! Or not cook and talk.

The sims 4 is better that any outfit can be maternity. What I miss about the sims 3 being a fireman Being able to change seamlessly mid task. (Snowing boarding being able to change style with out stopping) Mermaids swimming under water Being able to switch between walk/ running when moving and build fitness why doing so. The freedom to ride my horse down to where I want to go. The life options like being a pop star or exploring and it feel like your apart of the work not it feel very much like click run through animation stop and repeat. Sims automatically getting their umbrellas out when it rains Snow that builds up. The sims 4 in an upgrade and a down grade at the same but one things I will give it it’s still runs more or less. The sims at this point had a 20 minute loading screen.

I can't speak for Sims 1 on the PC, but in Sims 1 on PlayStation it was actually very easy to use build mode. It was ironically very similar to the Sims 4 build mode, except with auto roofing and an annoying item limit. But other than that, it wasn't that hard at all.

the build mode in sims 4 is identical to sims 3 (unless you never really played sims 3), the CAS is only slightly updated in sims 4 (they added the gender/preference stuff, everything else is exactly the same). sims 4 has oversimplified graphics and sims 3 they went hard for the 3d effect (which is part of the reason sims 4 plays better on lower end "gaming" pc's). the performance of sims 4 is better than sims 3, but sims 4 has too many DLC's (as of right now there's not comparison, sims 3 literally has a small fraction of dlc's that sims 4 has and it's not missing a lot of content)... everytime EA re-adds content that was in sims 3, it takes them 2-6 Sims 4 DLC's that would have only been 1 DLC for Sims 3 Satch is confirmed not a player of the Sims 3. if he actually played sims 3, this would be a sims 3 channel. only reason this is a sims 4 channel is because EA needs their money from their 40-50 Sims 4 DLC's, and they're paying him to promote it.

I played Sims 3 since it came out and no, the build mode maybe looks similar but the tools are way different, it is not identical. For example, room system in Sims 4. The same with CAS, Sims 3 uses sliders and Sims 4 the drag and drop dots on so many more points, were YOU even playing those games? I hated Sims 4 when it came out, because I couldn't do anything, I remember struggling with the different tools so much. And they added so much stuff. Useful or not, some of them is debatable, but it's not the same.

Aside from what Satch already said, I love the game for being save friendly (from what I experienced in my game so far) Saving the game in TS3 gave me so much PTSD (the "Error * insert number * appears at the end of save progress, omg 😭) considering its ambitious game design at that time

I would recommend NRaas Saver and Regul Save cleaner to fix any Error 12 issues. The Saver makes sure you have copies in case you can't save and Regul cleans you saves. Another advice I saw is to save above the sea or somewhere away from busy lots.

How can you mention the gallery and not mention it being broken for almost 2 years? We can no longer see our total download numbers and we haven't got a gallery newsfeed anymore so it makes it so much harder for us to see what our friends have been building or creating, also the gallery keeps randomly unfollowing my friends.

TS4 get a lot of hate, and yes EA is such a disappointment. But TS4 is still a good Sims game and way better than Sims 3🤷‍♀️

So the gallery works properly now? That's nice. But I was so used to it not working properly that I didn't even check the packs I own. EA likes to make things difficult by taking sooo long to fix anything.

sims 3 is still overall better, u can use CAST on so many things, u can color ceilings and cars lots of things, even the stairs and railings

I may be a Sims 3 player but I immediately miss the Sims 4 gender options, especially in character customisation. Making a masculine woman or a feminine man feels near impossible to make look good in Sims 3.

And yet the sims 4 remains boring. This game is good for fun youtube content where you can watch someone else make fun of the characters, but playing it yourself isn't as much fun. I say this as someone who started playing Sims 4 before the "Get to work" expansion was released.

unpopular opinion but i don’t really see where the sims 4 is “prettier” than sims 3. sims 3 looks way more realistic in a way, and sims 4 build items are 3 times more square like they didn’t bother to render them properly. plus it’s really heard to play any serious scenario in ts4 cause the plastic looking surrounding completely breaks the immersion

I don't know how you play, but I like to build my whole save file. Every main character has a different aspiration to work on. I give my sims 2 good traits and 1 bad trait. I like to have a few kleptos running around because they will autonomously steal things (you can go visit them to see their inventory. I had one who stole like half of my magic realm lmao) Then I build each character a custom house based on their aspiration and achievements. My favorite challenge I came across was rags to riches. I don't follow the rules per se, but it completely changed how I view the game. My focus is on building community lots, and as I build I keep in mind how I would survive visiting this lot. A lot of people like family lineage gameplay. In a way, it's very open and you can make all sorts of challenges. How do you normally play? :)😊

I saw this one idea from Reddit where if you have discover university and life and death you can do a Pinocchio type storyline where using the rebirth system you can make your servo into a real boy. I’ve been wanting to try that one out but I’m waiting for life and death to go on sale. You need to swim in the lake to become a ghost since servos normally can’t be ghosts.

After enjoying The Sims 4 and 2, I decided to try The Sims 3. It was so, so lifeless. This may be shallow, but compared to how goofy sims act in 2 and 4, and with how they looked, the sims in 3 just seemed like dolls to me, not characters. After a week of playing and trying to add reshade and replacements to make it look better, I realized I simply wasn't having fun, I didn't see the "gameplay" it had compared to 4, like others said. It just wasn't fun for me, not even close to Sims 2 and 4. It has a different personality, and I suppose that's what attracts others, but in my case, it drives me away.

when i play sims 3 i alway get frustated that the worlds are not connected together, and not even traveller make then work right, and the bugs annoy me more than the sims 4 ones, because most of the bugs on the sims 3 destroy alot of hours in my save file. :/

​@@PoprocksPp acctualy no, barely anything is playable outside of teh lots apart from the oceans, but even in the oceans you can't die if you are outside of a lot, outside of lot gameplay is just collectibles, so no, it does have more lots but it don't matter if you can't have acess to all the packs/worlds at the same time, i can't properly play showtime in sunsent valley, and so on, so nah the sims 4 with all packs, the worlds feel much bigger, besides the most important part everyting is connected, i no lose anything everything age together, and the outside lot gameplay in the sims 4 is much superior, you can't even make a snowman outside of a lot in the sims 3, nothing exists outside of a lot in the sims 3 apart from collectibles or ocean, and even then not all features work outside of alot. and the sims 4 got alot of improvments over time, basically only things i miss from the sims 3, is the cassino from lunar lakes, and the boat houses, the rest i don't care nothing in the sims 3 i liiked taht much, i do miss more things from the sims 2 like burglars and cars (i don't like cars in the sims 3 they are horrible in my opnion)

@ you can literally use every pack in any world. you can put scuba diving lots and houseboats in any world. you can put the showtime lots in any world. i'm not sure where you're getting your info from. you can die from drowning and shark attacks in oceans. you can make snowmen outside of your home lot in the sims 3. a lot of your info is incorrect, sorry.

@ you just a lier, i give you 100 dollar if you proof any information i said with a video unmodded game is incorrect, when i said outside of alot i mean "Any lot" theres a huge difference betwen a lot and a world, and you can only die on ocean inside a lot, i did not say you can't add all the expansions content on other worlds, and the truth is you are also lying about this, you can't add everything theres no space, things don't fit the lots are not designed for that world look ugly, you would need to build everything from scrach on create a world to try to merge everything in to one, and even then some worlds don't have water deep enough to allow the kraken to spawn, so no, besides whyu would i do so much work for a game i want just hit and play? when i start another game like stardew valley or don't starve together i don't want waste hours and horus of my life edditing infinite amount of stuff just to get the game to work properly, i want get the game with teh develope content build my house and sims andplay not being forced to edit entire worlds lmao. dying from sharks in ocean happens inside a lot....... a invisible lot but if you go to edit town you will see is a lot, my info stays correct, nothing exists outside of a lot other than collectibles or swimming in ocean, and even the swimming get more limited interactions.

While I agree that TS4 has positive things too, like Create-A-Sim and building a house, TS3 is a thousand times better. I think new games should build on previous games, like if TS3 was laggy because of the open world or whatever, figure a way to let it run better with new technology. TS3 had lore and took it from TS2, but it was set before TS2, so it was interesting to play with known characters and develop their life. I'm not even going to comment on TS4 😂. In the end, in my opinion, TS4 is a lazy af game, without a story and without many basic things (like cars!) that a life simulation game should have and that its predecessors had.

To be honest I still love sims 3 as I spent a lot of time on it and it being my first sims game I ever purchased. But I’m starting to find that I enjoy Sims 4 a little more since getting more dlc’s like cats & dog, get together and high school years to name a few. The performance and overall stability when doing build and cas is chef’s kiss 😘 however, Sims 4 without any dlc is an absolute hell no! And the sims traits are still too stale for my liking.

I like sims 4 that my sims can visit the different towns they are not stuck in their hometown. Sims 4 has too many packs and I have 41 so I get a lot of variety of clothes when I went back to play Sims 3 that I have 13 packs I was shocked by how much less clothes were available. It was a lot harder to make money in Sims 3 than Sims 4. I have more options to do a rags to riches in the sims 4. I remember my sims 3 game would be crashing every 5 minutes back in the day. Sims 4 my game has only crashed twice.

Sims 3 doesn't need as much "variety" in clothes because it has Create-A-Style... you can change the color and material of anything in the game to your liking.

I fully admit I like the sims 4 better than 3. Even though 3 sounds better, cars, open world, sims not ran by just an emotional rollercoaster system, but for some reason sims 3 sims feel like robots to me just moving along, the sims 4 feel more like sims to me even though their a hot mess and the game is a hot mess, but it’s still can be a fun one. With all the criticism it gets, there is something that sticks that brings me back. It’s got more of a sims 1 &2 feel, which I prefer over the sims 3. I enjoy the way the sims 4 looks way more and enjoy more of the game mechanics when playing. The sims 4 has some excellent features that work really well…when they do. It’s evolved a lot since launch day, even though it’s still missing some necessary things, it’s always had the potential to be an amazing sim game in my opinion and the reason it’s survived this long is because as much criticism as there is, the fans can feel their could be so much more and it’s not really the games fault as much as it is the lazy operators running it (EA)
