KRUJA ALBANIA 🇦🇱 | friendly locals, crazy hikes & Albanian hospitality! (WE LOVE IT HERE!)

Welcome to beautiful Kruja, Albania! We had no idea what was ahead of us when we came to this beautiful little town located just one hour from Tirana. This vlog is all over the place, but ended up being one of our most memorable ones.
We met incredibly friendly people, learned about Albanian culture and traditions and even had a crazy encounter with cows coming back from our hike to Sarisalltik! We hope you enjoy it :)

Love the Raki hospitality of the locals and their help to get you to the top of the mountain!! That video of the "shoemaker" was wonderful. Had no idea you could make footwear from just wool, water and soap. No more stinky feet for the people that wear them. And Aimara.....what's with the cows?!?! I thought you grew up on a farm?

Hi guys, enjoying your videos of Albania. A couple of clarifications: you took the wrong bus in the terminal, you took F. Kruje (which is the town of Fushe Kruje = Field/plain Kruje), you should have taken the bus to KRUJE (without the F.). There are a few towns and archeological sites that the government has decided to call "Ottoman town" or "Greek/ Roman archeologic site", they do that to simplify in order to persuade tourists to visit but the sites and the towns are Albanian built either during the Greek/Roman/Ottoman invasion or they are build in their style but by Albanians. When they say "Greek colony" they are in fact towns where some Greeks settled and lived side by side with the locals (Illyrians/Caonians/Epirots etc). Don't worry, we are not offended, we understand the game ;) Also: caws and sheep are not dangerous but bulls and rams may charge you if they feel threatened. I was charged by a ram once when I was a teen, hahaha, no harm done though just got really scared.

The Cities are not Ottoman, they are Pure ALBANIAN cities made by Albanian people, our Culture is as largest as you can’t imagine, the cities are build by civil people who did so much sacrifice time by time. Ottomans come as conquerors and they remain so, so the conquerors do not come to build cities but destroy them, and the Albanian population has survived all the evils from foreigners. We understand and 100% get it. The history in Albania is quite painful and complicated. Just know we didn't mean to offend anyone or maybe we didn't explain ourselves correctly. We know the Ottomans were invaders. Thanks for the feedback though!

Guys when ottoman arrived in Albania Kruja already was a city with the castle 🏰. These are not ottoman buildings. They are old Albanian buildings and keep in mind that ottomans did not build anything besides destroying everything they could.

Kruja along with its castel existed long before the ottomans. People knew how to build and trade before ottomans existed. Many tourist keep saying what they read from google which is inaccurate.

Sarisalltik was not ottoman missionary and did not spread Muslim culture That is a ancient place , based on the story there was a dragon in that place and the locals have to send one child every day to feed the dragon If they don't the dragon will go down and destroy the town, burn it down Based on the story sarisalltik came along a man with a superpower . fight the dragon and killed him and saved the town (if you look at that part of the mountain where the shrine is the mountain is cracked in half from the fight between him and the dragon So it's a ancient place not ottoman Do not comment if you don't know the story
