My reason for using them: I earned it. Even when they don’t look great I still use it, i build a whole car around my rewards. It’s MY achievement, and i want to use what I earned. I don’t use it the entire season and i switch cars around a lot anyways, but I like using what i have. It isn’t showing off, it’s appreciating my progress from my start rank of silver.

Last season i defended the S3 decals in the steam forums and i saw a ton of players using them in S4. Also, i really like many items from the new S5 rocket pass (which is better than the last one imo) and some of the new tourney rewards. But these wheels are so ugly.. They just should rework them or give us a clean version. I think most players above gold generally dont want to use wheels that have to much stuff on the tire so they start flickering when you use them - especially on Octane where the whole wheel is visible. I think psyonix should focus more on cleaner but stylish wheels that are actually useable in game.

The Problem ist not the grind for the rank rewards, but the point in being at a certain rank encourages people to built an massive ego combined with Fear of losing that rank. Both this Ends up in missing self-reflection of playstyle and toxicity (which then will be answered with even more toxicity by other players)

I grind each season to get my rewards, and then i spend the rest of the season with a little bit less stress. I never use the rewards, but still. I want them. I'll feel empty without that season rewards. Plus, having each seasons rewards is a good way to track your progress because to can see how well you did each season.

I think the problem with the dragon banners was awarding them at the same time they rolled out banners in general. So everybody who was maybe hoping for something to give their car a little extra flash instead had to absorb that this whole new feature was going to be a part of the game. They weren't hoping for a new feature, they were hoping for a better version of what they already had.

I started playing RL in the midst of se.3 (2021), so this is all new to me. I bought a se.4 pass, not really knowing what I'd be getting, or what to expect. I learned a lot, really quick. While I'm not dissatisfied with the season rewards, I'm also not excited over them. I like the general wheel style, and I'll use them, but I don't think I'd miss them if they disappeared from my items.

I would like to have a vote on 5 different things and whatever gets the most likes will be taken as the new season reward - but with the rank based design. They could even pick one topic to keep the diversity but those wheels are no more then 5 minutes to design each - and I can only imagine using them in Snow Day...

For old season 5 imagine 5 groups of people. People that don't intend on using the reward and don't care what it is, people that don't intend on using the reward but want it to be something they *could* use, people that *will* use the reward but *don't* care what it is, people that *will* use the reward and *do* care what it is, and people that might use the reward (undecided). Out of all these groups, the first two will likely never use the reward unless it matches their loadout already. This would only be realistic for the dragon banner as the generic one doesn't really match anything in particular. People who want the reward as something they *could* use will be very vocal about not getting good rewards but will be the last people to actually use them, so it makes sense that the dragon banner saw more use when you think of it like this

The chances that strategy backfires are too high for Psyonix to even consider it: the number of players that would grind to become better and get better rewards is nowhere near the number of players that would feel like they were being discriminated for being worse. There are *multiple problems* to last season's rewards. - They announced it very late compared to other F2P seasons. Both season 2 and season 3's were announced 3 weeks before the end date. Season 4 was less than a week. - The design doesn't change between ranks. As hilarious as the old season 13 one looks, at least they look different for each rank. - The design is too similar to the ruinator from the rocket pass. - The design itself, in a vacuum, arguably looks bad. To think last season was just the time I could finally get my friend to grind some ranked...

Plus, look on the bright side, if they did explosions this season, they can't do it twice and do it in season 5, so far looking to be the best season yet. I remember getting the normal banners alongside the dragon banners and thinking "why give us these boring versions when clearly the dragons look so much more interesting." Anyone that hated on those dragon banners back then only hated them because they were something other than wheels or boost. I never have complained about the season rewards, but I have been in diamond for months and finally poked through champ peaking at champ 2 and was excited for anything at that point... except what we got. Those wheels look extremely simplified and I even tried finding some kind of look that goes with it but failed. It's unfortunate but just gonna have to keep up the grind.

I grinded for the rewards as an objective means of identifying my skill level. If I can win enough games in that rank, I feel that I am legitimately that rank. If I get in and fall out and can't attain the rewards, I don't belong there yet. I don't mind the wheels for my blue team car since I got platinum, but it doesn't go with my red team car at all. That's a bit disappointing that I get rewards that don't fit half of the time. I also got unlucky in that I played in a previous season that gave out wheels, quit for a few years, then came back and got wheels again.

Yep, the toxic "End Season Grind" basically guarantees that no one is happy with rewards. I think they'd honestly be better just doing fruity titles every season with some Import/Exotic/BM drops depending on ranking. 1 drop Bronze to Gold, 2 drops Plat to Champ, and 3 for GC/SS.

A good idea for season rewards would be to show like 4-6 different possibilities of what they could be, then have players vote on which they like the most. The reason that they wouldn't do that is because of the effort it would take to make that many items, but it would still be cool. Maybe if players could suggest ideas?

everything about these rewards is just a trainwreck. In earlier seasons, (which indeed were great mostly, i especially love the decals), even the "low effort" stuff got a proper announcement, a bit of hype machinery, they at least TRIED. This season, all we got was a 60 second clip with no sound where the same wheel is shown in 8 different colors. No dynamic, nothing, only thing moving is the swirly bit, they mightve just as well just screencapped a PowerPoint and there would be hardly any difference. It says a lot when even the announcement, where creating a nice presentation takes like half an hour to an hour may, is instead just... this

I think the last time I talked about the dragon banners, I incorrectly remembered that they were the "fixed" ones, not the original ones. I totally agree with everything in this video. I think in general they watch others react negatively, especially their favorite community figures, and it really influences their opinion. These ones... they do deserve the criticism. I also thought they'd change them, but nope.

My take on this is typically once people start taking this game more seriously, generally around plat. People use cleaner designs, typically no antenna, topper, and less distracting boost. Maybe give the lower ranks, bronze, silver, maybe even gold the more goofy and over the top cosmetics, and the rest of the players a cleaner look. Because when I play with my lower rank friends, all of them including the opposing team has every cosmetic equipped and they're all just random. Idk, maybe it's unfair, maybe just give everyone something clean looking, but the lower ranks are definitely more accepting of some weird looking cosmetics in the game.

Real shit. I played with the grog and a cowboy hat until I hit platinum and now I have 10 themed and super clean/ simplistically aesthetic cars that I love. One of which being called “opulence” with all gold everything.

I’d add that somewhere around season 5 we also started to have crate changes, changes to items dropped, etc.. People just generally didn’t like the changes. Banners were just one example, and I personally liked the dragon design. But Psyonix going to a banner and not a crown or wheels seemed like a let down at the time.

I honestly respect this move by Psyonix. If people complain every time you put effort into making something, why bother continuing to make the effort? I've always liked the idea of ranked rewards and they're a nice way to give people something to show for their hard work, but honestly almost no one consistently uses them. I'd rather Psyonix focus their efforts elsewhere on things I actually care about
