8yrs FT..1 flat on tow, 0 accidents, 0 awning issues, 0 storm, 1 rv tow from homebase, all in all no emergencies, keep up with reg maintenance & always have a spotter when backing up.

Nice, that's impressive for 8yrs!

New studio looks great, you are definitely wandering Dustin! It’s definitely good to slow down and take your time to avoid disaster!

This past July we were in Wisconsin and we are from South Alabama and had an awning failure. On our Tiffin motorhome the piece that holds the awning to the roof which they call awning connect failed. Never have I seen any inspectors recommend checking that item. I went to put the awning out for the day and heard a sound like a loud zipper and the next thing I knew,the awning hit the ground. One thing about campers, people help each other and 3 others came over and we got it stored to travel. You have been blessed to not have some kind of excitement while traveling. It really adds to the traveling experience

Couldn't agree more- camp people are phenomenal. They are always willing to help - love the community 😊

Way to talk about it all and put it in perspective for those looking to be getting into RV Life. We agree the overdramatize of the "disasters" does make you think 🤔 it is going to happen. Being prepared and planning is key!
@WaywardWaggsАй бұрын
Ya, it's not as scary as it gets portrayed.

I agree that people see the 1 in a million disaster and then decide RVing isn't for them. I had to chuckle when talking about tires. We have never had a blowout on the trailer (knock on everything wood) but one time, after leaving Amarillo (I hate driving through Amarillo), we started feeling vibrations coming from the back of the truck. I pulled over in the town of La Mesa, TX and found that we blew both inside duals. I went back a couple blocks to a tire store (which was closed on that Saturday afternoon) but 2 guys came out and asked if we needed help. I told them our issue and they said pull around to the service bays an they would take care of us. WOW! What great small town service. The story gets weird because we drive from Denver to Mission, TX every year and have NEVER driven through LaMesa, TX ever since. I'm beginning to think it is in the twilight zone or Divine intervention.

You make me feel better about taking this step and full-timing. I don't think we'll be good at it either but I'm planning on learning from your tips (checklists, regular maintenance, taking our time etc.). 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
@WaywardWaggsАй бұрын
It's definitely an adventure, and you guys are gonna be just fine 🙂
@waynesandy6298Ай бұрын
I just 🙏we are as fortunate during our life on the road. Leslie you are more brave than I on driving. I hope to learn for emergency reasons, that is about it🙃.

That's mainly why I wanted to know how, but Dustin's nerves could never let me try, lol.

2 years FT and no issues either. You tube did give me good tips such as being aware of tail swing, and always doing a walk around before I hit the road. I also have a checklist. It's good to take things slow and easy... I make mistakes when I am in a rush or stressed.
@WaywardWaggsАй бұрын
Yes, rushing is where most mistakes happen!

So sorry I’m late on watching the video. Been a very busy week. Giving blood to 2 different drs is ruff. And one didn’t put me in the system. So I had to wait 15 minutes for the front desk to email my dr. Then I had to go to another dr. So crazy. But I’m watching now! Love your studio! And your Mike. That’s so cute. I love it! ❤❤Great job! 👍

Love the new studio! You guys were so lucky to not have had some of those disasters! Just shows you how much regular maintenance and slowing your roll will benefit you. Great share, guys!! Now, if you consider a certain “toilet situation “ a disaster, I guess you did have one! 😝🤣
@WaywardWaggsАй бұрын
🤣😂🤣 oh my lord yes! That was by far our big "rv disaster".

We have had two blow outs on the trailers and one flat tire. 1st blow out TPMS did not warn us, just happened. Traded trailer for new one. Flat tire TPMS told us there was an air leak. Pulled over and put the spare on. Turnout to be a bad valve stem. Changed all valve stem to be metal. 2nd blow out, happened this month, less than 5 miles from the house. Everything passed the pre-trip check list before leaving the house. Cheap Chinese tires from the factory just decided to fail. Now we have 5 new tires, not taking chances with the spare since it had been used twice already. Estimated total mileage on the cheap Chinese tires to be around 4,200 miles.

I am enjoyed listening to this. reminds me of some of my history. Speaking of awnings, my friends had his awnings fly off while crossing the howard franklin bridge in tampa. It went into Tampa Bay. Hearing him talk about that was really funny. Nice to hear you guys. I am in Ocala, want to see you in Tampa this year.
@WaywardWaggsАй бұрын
OMG, that's hilarious and devastating at the same time! What a story for them to tell though, lol. Tampa is TBD, but hoping it'll be possible 😁

You two were really lucky! We haven’t had any big problems but we try to stay on top of the check list to stay away from problems. Some things are self inflicted 😂
@WaywardWaggsАй бұрын
Lol, so true! I'm surprised we came out of it relatively unscaved 🤣

I enjoyed this. I can soooooo relate to Leslie wanting to drive. And her description of someone who’s been driving so many years they don’t think they will do anything wrong and then they are always the ones who have a mishap. Lol. All of that I have personal experience with. 😂

Glad you didn’t have flat on the road but glad it was while in the campground and you got it fixed. So glad you had any swaying with your Rv to where you would hit something. I saw thus in the news here that someone with a class C hit the part of the parking con structure at the air port here in Vegas. He didn’t have enough clearance I guess. He wrecked the Rv.

Yikes, that's scary!

Crazy how so many rvers have so many major issues. Thankfully we are not part of that group. Fingers crossed for another year without any major issues.

KNOCK on wood, not had a blowout either. We invested in very good tires though. & Laurence is paranoid about the awning, so we rarely had it out.

We hardly ever used our awnings as well. As terrible as we were I'm surprised we didn't have more issues 😂

I remember you with the Covid thing trying to find a place to go. And glad you stayed there where you were at for 6 weeks. I remember you saying about the KOAs you wouldn’t stay there. I don’t blame you. I used to live next door to a KOA and they were noisy. My bedroom was right next door to the loudness. I wanted to complain but that’s not me. My mom and I lived in a trailer park at the time. Leslie never toad the Rv? I thought you did Leslie! But I don’t blame you Leslie I would be nervous. You both did great while in the road full time camping. Hope you have a great week and weekend and hope to see you soon! If not hope you have a great and Happy Thanksgiving with your family. 🦃🍁

You folks where repaired to hit the road when you did & I'm pretty sure Dustin's military time entrenched a few habits necessary for the record you hold. We will be spending some time teaching Wendy how to's with reguards to the Pete. Leslie, when we get the Pete to Alabama. We will take ya to a mall & let ya give it a go. (Without the trailer) and you can put that on your resume.
