I'm happy you about the $15 half an hour cost, that a valuable information. Thanks 👍

How good does it cut 17-4 stainless steel

Stained glass sounds interesting, how do you join it?
@mHUBInside2 жыл бұрын
The pieces are joined with a copper foil tape that allows the panels to be soldered. Thanks for watching!

Unlike anything else in the makerspace, this costs quite a bit to run. Do you charge members by the minute of pump time? Or is there another way to cover the cost of the expendables?
@mHUBInside Жыл бұрын
Most usage of equipment in the shop is covered by mHUB membership fees. There are a few that require an additional rental fee - including this one. The others are the fiber laser and UV printer due to the direct cost of consumables. For the water jet, we charge $25/half hour which includes material and maintenance.

@@mHUBInside Thanks for the info. We are considering getting a Wazer for The MakerBarn, but first we have to come up with a good way to track pump time for a user. We may tie it into our MACS user access system.

Hi. Can I send you a slab of my Guatemalan Jadeite Jade to see if it will cut it?
@acmhfmggru2 ай бұрын
It will cut jade, yes. Regular garnet cutting.

Can it cut on a 45 degree angle?
@mHUBInside Жыл бұрын
Nope. The water jet is a fixed gantry. It does not tilt :)

Yes, with a jig.

As slow as my Flow Mach 200 60,000 PSI is in thicker materials, this would be mind torture to try and use.

Super informative well done video, thanks. Questions, would this ruin the wood if 1/4” untreated plywood was cut due to moisture? Can more than 1 pass be done to go deeper into material? In the case of marble/ granite if the thickness is to great, does it basically “ engrave”?
@mHUBInside2 жыл бұрын
We have successfully cut 3/8" plywood, the caveat is your material is going to get wet, very wet, and while our piece did not warp something smaller might. It probably wont do fine detail in wood well. Wazer does not have a setting built for wood so I would assume they wouldn't "suggest" it. When cutting with a water jet you start with a pierce move that goes all the way through and you really don't want the head to move before that. If the jet of water moves faster then full depth cutting occurs (on any material), then "scoring" can happen, which isn't great for engraving. The head has about 1" of clearance and theoretically you can cut anything that passes underneath it, but it might just take an unreasonable amount of time with not that great of an edge as a result. Thanks for watching! Hope that helps.

why use this over a fiber laser. or co2 laser ?
@mHUBInside Жыл бұрын
Good question. We utilize it for metal that is too thick to go our fiber laser and it's also good for ceramics and glass as well as rubbers/neoprene when trying to prevent a singed/sooty edge.

How would this work on let's say 3/16 stainless?
@mHUBInside2 жыл бұрын
You can see all the material library recipes at wazer.com/materials/materials-specs/#materials-table Not sure if you’re asking “316” stainless, or stainless steel that is 3/16” but….. stainless has a maximum of .188” at .5ipm. That being said the WAM software listed the thickest 316 stainless as .125 You can schedule a demo with Wazer via the link in video description, if local!

Yeah, the abbrassive is garnet (industrial ruby) and is one time use. Pretty pricy stuff, but it can cut tool steel so...
