She was quiet when it was just her, but when they did that to Nneka while keeping a hobbled DT on the team just so she could get that 5th gold, their bias was undeniable. I’m over USA basketball. I’m glad she spoke her truth. She should not have been cut. There was no reason for her not to make the team.For Some strange reason we seen Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi from U Conn made it to make 5 gold medals. Every time some speak their truth they try to silence them or make it seem as they being difficult, unreasonable, or they need to get over themselves. It goes Way DEEPER THAN THAT. When she was in college at Tennessee . UCONN NEVER BEAT Tennessee in the 4 yrs that Candice played at the University. Plus Candice was the best player in College , her entire college Career. She Won 2 National Championships. She was the 1st Pick in the WNBA DRAFT. But Geno an Pat Summit hated Each other. They even stoped talking for Awhile. This is just my opinion , but I definitely think he has held that against her in terms of his Selections on the Olympic Team. London 2012 Olympics Candace played for Gino but she was clearly sick with an ankle injury and didn't perform well at the tournament. Rio 2016 Olympics it's a Dream Team with all the top WNBA players except for Candace? Maybe it's because she said she didn't like Gino, why?? If everyone else got on with him and made the team? Elena Delle Donne made the team and she rejected his offer to play at Connecticut. Maybe we shouldn't judge the situation knowing only one side of the story

In 2016 Candace was 1 of the top 4 woman’s basketball players in the country Period. She is the only player , that can play all 5 positions . I personally think that it all goes back to her college days at Tennessee . She won 2 national championships with coach Summit. They never lost to Geno an UConn in her 4 years at TENNESSEE . An I think he held that against her. Him an Coach Summit also stoped speaking to each other for a few years.

And Candace did play for Gino at the 2012 London Olympics where she started in the starting five but was clearly unwell the whole tournament. She admitted that she very strongly disliked Gino and it makes no sense to have some one on a basketball team which is all about finding people who get along to have one bad apple especially at this level of the sport where the GOLD medal makes you the LORD OF THE RINGS. I like Candace a lot think she is one of the top players in the world always questioned why she isn't playing for team USA but have to note that she is the only player not making the team. At Rio you only had 12 spots Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Tameka Catchings, Britney Grinner, Briana Stewart, Maya Moore, Simone Augustus, Lyndsey Whalen, Elena Delle Donne, Sylvia Fowles, Angel McCoughtry, Tina Charles. If Candace didn't make that team it has more to do with Candace than it has to do with Gino as he clearly didn't need her you need to work on many levels to earn your place on a competitive team like that and what did she do to earn her place exactly? She said she did amazingly well at the try outs along side the other Super stars but that's her personal opinion it hasn't been backed by others. I still like Candace very much and wil continue to support her.

I can’t stop typing . The biggest reason why I defend Candice is because I have followed her Career from the beginning . I watched her at Tennessee . She was the Magic Johnson of Woman’s Basketball . Can do what not to many Woman’s players can do . Which is have the ability to play at all five positions. I watched her dominate Sylvia fowls in College . On her way to her 1st or Second National Championship. Mia Moore , Dianna Taurasi, are very Good Guards, but can’t play all 5 positions. But Candice could do it all . Her legacy is etched in stone as one of the greatest women’s basketball players to ever play. Only a fool would say she didn’t deserve and EARN being on that team. Coming off a WNBA Season where she averaged almost 20ppg 10rpg and over 6apg. There’s not 12 players who deserved to be on that 2016 team over her. There’s not 6 front court players who deserved to be on that team over her. A multi dimensional and positional player who led the 2012 team. Her gripe is that the ends don’t match the means. I don’t ever recall a coach going from coach one year to the selection committee the next. That spoke of how much say so Geno had and how much USAB valued his opinion. Geno hasn’t been the most forthright person EVER he always stammers and flubs over hard lines of questioning and often more times than not he gets a lot of grace from that type of questioning.

That anger fueled his drive for success. But he's still not over it.
