It went from a Cat-4 to a Cat-2 as it crossed the FL/GA line, and maintained Cat-2 halfway up to Atlanta. It was still a Cat-1 as it reached the NC border.

@@wirelesmike73 Also, wind was never really the threat. It was the trillion gallons of water in the atmosphere dumping out onto the sunbelt that was always the largest threat.
@wirelesmike73Ай бұрын
@@McTwistedTwisties , That's mostly true, but, wind is a threat in places that aren't accustomed to such prolonged, high velocity winds. Coastal areas are built for such things and the biggest threat is costal storm surge flooding, but communities further inland aren't prepared for either, making it a double whammy. There were also tornadoes that were caused by this storm in places that don't normally get tornados due to the size of the storm and how far inland the storm maintained hurricane status. And, without those kinds of winds, you don't get that kind of downpour covering such a huge area for so long.

Dane Wigington channel (KZbin ) shows the Nexrad radar controlling where this storm went to...weather war. Wake up America. This IS war on us. Now maybe you'll believe in chemtrails and HAARP.

The devastation is biblical, sadly, we always focus on the coast and landfall, but like Agnes in the 70s, it's the destruction inland that is more devastting both in damage and deaths. It will be interesting in this political season to me though, to see how the Republican Senators and Governors of Florida, Georgia, SC, and Tennessee react after spending the entire political season wailing against "SOCIALISM", the Federal Government, President Biden and VP Harris, deriding the federal deficit and regulation. Lets not forget this is the party that desires to put the National Weather Service as a free government service out of business as well (along with the Dept. of Education) and put the EPA out of business, who's expertise will be needed in many communities that will have lost their ability to provide clean water, and have contaminated flood detris to clean up and dispose of. I'll also remind voters that in past budgets the Republicans have often "zeroed out" FEMA and the National Fire Academy and the NEC in Emmittsburg where first responders get a wide range of special training. I am sure all these Governors will refuse Federal assistance, insist that they can "go it alone", do it better and cheaper on their own, not desire to cause the Federal Gov't to borrow the billions needed for clean up of flood damage, start repairs, replacement of lost housing, repairs to damaged roads and bridges, provide clean and safe food and water to impacted communities, and be willing to raise their state's taxes to cover these costs and with the election coming, and coming off their successful convention of nominating Donald Trump as their nominee for President, and we remember the "red meat" speeches regarding their distain for the Federal Government and the Biden Administration, as well as Federal spending (remember the Republican congress recently again failed to pass an annual budget by October 1 as required by the Constitution (which Republicans claim is so near and dear to their hearts). I would expect that every Republican stand by their deep beliefs of self reliance, paying one's own way, and not wanting those pesky federal folks imposing regulations and requirements on how they do their clean up and care for their own, and refuse any Federal assistance for flood damage from Helene. Oh, I expect Donald Trump to soon visit the devastated areas and hand out TRUMP brand paper towels like he did in Puerto Rico after their devastating hurricane.

You should go read what a man named Charlie Shamp spoke September 26 2017 about Kamala.

@@globalado2593 no deflection, I just wanna make sure anyone reading this knows that before this season ever started, in 2017 before anyone heard of her, we knew she would be selected to run, fail and be broken. I would want a heads up too If the shoe were on the other foot, I’m doing you a favor. Unfortunately her own party will try to off her as well to stir up more division because they have nothing else to offer.
