WCBS-FM 101 New York - Bruce Morrow FIRST SHOW - June 5 1982
This aircheck features Bruce Morrow’ s very first show on WCBS-FM. Morrow would eventually spend over 20 years on CBS-FM. Bruce is joined on this aircheck by his friend, and former WABC jock, Les Marshak.
Bruce started in New York radio in 1959 at WINS, but Cousin Brucie became synonymous with rock and roll during his 13 years at 77 WABC New York, in the 1960s and '70s. Brucie was a nighttime powerhouse, popular with the teens, as large numbers of them would turn out for his appearances. He then moved on to WNBC for a few Years, got into radio ownership, and then spent 23 years at 101.1 WCBS-FM playing the oldies, before moving on gig at SiriusXM. Morrow, has hosted oldies shows on the satellite-radio provider since 2005, most recently "Cruisin' with Cousin Brucie" on Wednesdays. and "Cousin Brucie's Saturday Rock and Roll Party" on Saturdays. In September 2020, Morrow’s career went full circle when he returned to 77 WABC, to host a saturday night oldies show.

One of You Tube's oldest RADIO AIRCHECK MUSEUM with a NEW VIDEO posted daily at 3PM EST.
After over 40 years working on the radio, I have recorded lots of radio airchecks, and many from my friends as well.
You'll find audio of many radio personalities who have passed away. Lots radio recordings from the 1940s, through the 2010.
We also talk about radio broadcasting. If you happen to have classic airchecks, maybe even of yourself on the air, we'd love to share it here!
We also share videos about Travel & Cruising. I share tips on how I travel cheaply, so you can do it also! Find me on Facebook: / ellisairchecks

I use to hear cousin Brucie growing up when I was a kid every Sunday he would come on my local oldies station and do a show called cruise in America with cousin Brucie. It was every Sunday morning, and I also remember shows like dick Bartleys American gold and there was a show on Sunday nights called Sunday night at the beach and they would play Beach music and also another show would come on Sunday nights called the real Don steel, wow! They don’t make shows like that anymore. I wish we had shows like that on the air again, these days a.m. and FM radio is nothing but garbage, what happened to good radio, live DJ personalities on the air rather than automated music all the time. It was like a big party, every weekend we would look forward to our favorite music radio shows, remember when DJs would take your request you would call up the radio station and request a song, now the magic is gone it’s not what it used to be anymore. I’m a person who is nostalgic for those days so your channel is right up my alley that’s why I subscribe to it, thank you this is awesome keep the good radio from the past alive and preserve it for a future generations.

I also have Cousin Brucie’s final show on WCBS-FM from June 1st, 2005 where he did his “Yearbook” show on “Soul Patrol”. That took place two days before the station flipped to “Jack” on June 3rd.

I remember his first show, but I don’t remember the exact date. I remember it was pretty warm that June day. The tape was dated the 5th, but it was over 40 years ago. I can’t remember with absolute certainty.
