This was the last wrestling show before the Absolute end of The Attitude Era / Monday Night Wars at WrestleMania 17. When Steve Austin joined forces with Vince McMahon and Dwayne Johnson "The Rock" left for Hollywood , that was it. Wrestling will never be the same ever again and it just keeps getting worse from that point on.
@blueblur23294 жыл бұрын
Honestly the wrestling business was on the decline even before Stone Cold went heel and the Rock left for Hollywood. The WWF was gradually cleaning up their act all throughout 2000 and slowly changing gimmicks of talents that fans had grown to love. Val Venis got rid of his pornstar gimmick, Godfather got rid of his pimp gimmick and became the goodfather, Billy Gunn got rid of his nickname Mr. Ass and finally Rikishi turned bad splitting with Too Cool who subsequently got new less catchy music and the trio were no longer hot anymore. Storylines progressively got worse throughout the year as well. As for WCW, they were straight garbage in 2000 and their decline started quickly in 99
@user-pg9fx7zz6b4 жыл бұрын
@@blueblur2329 Absolutely agreed. The thing is , Vince started tuning down his product soon as WCW was becoming garbage and couldn't threaten him anymore , and the roster became so deep and full of talented "wrestlers" so he went in the direction of in ring performance rather than gimmicks. The whole crash TV thing was a late 90s stuff. Soon as that period faded , the product changed rapidly.
@blueblur23294 жыл бұрын
@@user-pg9fx7zz6b You hit it right on the nail. I'm recently re-watching the entire Monday Night Wars on the network and just finishing up the year 2000 right now and it's exactly what you said. Less talent started being utilized and really stopped having fleshed out stories for their matches. Particularly the low to mid card. In fact, even some of the main eventers/upper midcard kind of had questionable booking in 00(Rock, Y2J, Undertaker and Kane just to name a few). 00 use to be my favorite year as a kid but watching it again now and I think 99 and 98 were better. I liked the crash tv mixed in with the matches in 98 and 99 and how each character had a story to get me invested in the match. As much as I hate to admit it because of how atrocious this guys booking was in late 99 and much of 00, the WWF actually got a little worse when Russo left. I noticed that mid card talent were not utilized nearly as much or as well as they were when he was there and the story-lines in 98 and 99 were better than the storylines in 00 which to me is baffling because he brought pretty much no storyline to WCW in late 99 and when he came back in mid 00 with Bischoff the story telling was awful and he just rehashed a bunch of old gimmicks and storylines from not only the WWF(Booker T copying the Rock, trying to use Goldberg like Austin and Russo using himself as Mcmahon, turning Kronik into the Acolytes more screw jobs) but even WCW(going back to NWO and doing the Goldberg streak again,). I mean seriously the constant run-ins that completely tarnished the matches and made them feel unimportant with the constant swerves to the point where they became predictable, constantly pointing out wrestling is fake, etc. I mean I can go on forever if I haven't already. But 1 thing I can say for sure is that when Russo was working with Mcmahon they seemed to strike the right balance.

I was a NWA, Mid-Atlantic, Georgia & WCW guy and hated that company up north with a PASSION and had they gone out of business that would've been very unfortunate because although I was WCW, I realized with no WWF/E that meant no variety for fans.

Kinda mind boggling that WCW's last actual program and way to say goodbye to the fans was Worldwide
@SABMashupMuseum4 жыл бұрын
I was not aware that WCW aired one more episode of WCW Worldwide. Our local then-UPN affiliate, WLYH-TV (now WXBU) in Harrisburg, PA picked up Worldwide sometime in 2000 and aired it until March 2001. When WWE bought WCW, the station picked up 'Jakked' and I think they aired that show in place of the final episode of Worldwide that night. So I didn't get to see it. Has anyone else experienced the same problem in your market?

Their entire library can be seen on Peacock, but WWE butchered it due to copyright issues.

It was some bull crap that Scott wouldn’t let him get a word in. Also that seemed so rushed. I wouldn’t mind a 5 minute speech

I can barely stomach this. The end of wrestling. Maybe AEW is a savior for pushing Vince but man the interest in wrestling tanked when it was soley WWE in America & it never came bavk

@Karl M in 2001 their numbers were in slow decline & continued that trend to today. House shows, ratings etc. Millions of fans stopped following wrestling. I still watched cause I love wrestling but I'm not the fan these companies need. They need casual fans

@@joere-uploader5766 Facts! Nobody appreciated the Ruthless Aggresion era back when it was going on since it felt like a huge drop off from the Attitude era but now the PG era has everybody wishing they could have the Ruthless Aggresion era back. Hopefully AEW keeps pushing and forces WWE to step their game up.

That's pretty much what happened. It sucked and it was bs. The Night of Champions at the last Nitro in the incredible beachside setting of Panama Beach was the date that professional wrestling was killed. Those that took part in that final Nitro deserve full respect. WCW 4 life!

This brief segment right here is better than anything wwe has got going on,or has had going on for the past 22 years.Even the set design and lay out blows the pants off wwe garbage.Whether or not anyone realizes it,the end of WCW in 2001 also signalled the end of wwe.Vince wouldn't know a good idea these days of it bit him in the butt,which reminds me maybe they need to bring back the kiss his backside club.A wrinkly old man bending over for the masses, might be just the thing the business needs to kick it into high gear,with Vince McMahons aging worn out rear!
