Ever use WD40 as a Concrete Form Release Agent? I have! In this video, I show you how I used WD40 in a recent build I completed to make a concrete umbrella stand with wheels. The WD40 was used because I forgot to purchase a form release agent while shopping for part for the build. I think the WD40 worked pretty good but I have never used it in a large application, example: a concrete form for a house or large shed. If you know more about this than I do, please put any tips or advice in the comment section. I did not use WD40 as a concrete form release because it was cheaper, I used it because it was readily available and I did not have to go back to the store lol.

Matt, buy it in 1 gallon cans, way cheaper ($35). Get a spray bottle that has a wide range of adjustment from stream to spray if you need to do large pieces, otherwise, a rinsed out window cleaner, etc. spray bottle works fine. You never run out of propellant like the smalls cans do. I'll never buy the small cans again. You can even get the Silicone version (for use on car window tracks/slow windows, for use on rubber, etc) in gallons.

@@JustaDude123 It's strangely satisfying spraying it from a spray bottle too. I don't understand it, but I do like it, lol! If you really wanted to go all out, just get a 1 to 2 gallon pump sprayer. It kills bugs too so if you mix it up with your pesticide sprayers maybe it will still work, lol

@JustaDude123

It could. You also have to vibrate out the air pockets. Try rapidly tapping the mold with a hammer or another block of wood to get the air out of the pour. Hope this helps. Thank you!

Do you think WD-40 would work on the wheelbarrow tire nuts? We use the wheelbarrow on sites alot when pouring concrete. It never fails that the bolts and nuts get yucked up with concrete. 🤦‍♀️

Great question. I think it should. There was another comment about someone using it on the bucket of a tractor to keep the concrete from sticking to it. Please post back if it does work to help others. Thank you for watching!

@@JustaDude123 I do not envy the masonry profession. Mixed and dumped 1200lbs of concrete... whooped. I don't know how these guys do it day after day. But I got the door arches finished for my chicken bunker. If it can stop a .50 cal round, it can stop a bear. Will post again once I pull the mould boards off to see how well the WD40 did.

@@JustaDude123 WD40 (edited... phone comes with auto-incorrect) Confirmed!!! I had to wait a few extra days due to that snow storm after pouring. The boards from the 3 molds come off with zero sticking. This was cheap, rough plywood too. Not having a ton of experience with concrete, the forms came out more porous that I wanted, but I filled it with mortar and it looks great.

Just here to warn everyone about Q-Cote concrete form release. They sell it by the gallon or larger. The fumes are extremely toxic. I used it outside in my carport, no walls and the smell penetrated my house. I had to evacuate my house for hours. And when I came home it still had the awefull smell. So don't use the toxic stuff. Use mineral oil or linseed oil. The Q-Cote smells like the black tar you can buy for roof patching. I hate it.
