1:27:00 This might be the biggest hint to what Etch is. I don't think it's a page builder, you've been praising Bricks the last weeks. More of a taking headless WP and rethinking it AROUND people's page builders. So curious!

Stop b****ing about the price of Etch. If you don't see by now how Kevin and his team stand behind their products and constantly improve them(let alone all the 'free' training he has given) then don't buy it. If Etch is anything like ACSS, Frames, etc., you will make your money back tenfold. The time I have saved, things I've learned and the value given are far beyond the price I've paid for these things. He's not going to pull a cwicly and he's not forcing you to buy anything. He has created another great product(I assume) and the price point he sets is his decision and will be fair for the value it brings to your business. OK, rant over.

My guess for Etch is using the WordPress Rest API, create a new frontend to WordPress. This removes magic areas and makes things nore streamline

I can confidently say whatever etch is im buying it. Ive seen far too much continued development/improvement with acss and frames and been given so much value from the content posted regularly that I have no doubt whatsoever that whatever etch is will be an absolutely solid product and worth every penny. Even if its $1000, which btw he didnt say etch would be $500-$1500, he used those numbers in an example when referring to early adopting products in general.. even still though, im buying it anway.

I remember a very brief conversation with Kevin at WC23 him mentioning the possibility of building this own page builder. And remember seeing another video / post about that around the same time. So my money is on a page builder theme/plugin.

I know so little about how hard it would be for Etch to be A New Page Builder. But this is my guess, showing how little I know.

Don't be naïve, let's all acknowledge that Kevin is a great marketer. He has continuously been pre-selling his "new shiny products" as total "must-haves", but they have not proven all as useful and necessary as he wants us to think they are. I am taking this new Etch thing very cautiously, and can already say that if KG is going to take a radical curve and from now on tell us he wants us to use a new architecture that needs a new tech stack, it'll be the day I'll part ways and stick with Bricks and the stack I have collected throughout all those years. "You don't want to be the dinosaur that still uses [...] ". Well, I don't think I'd mind that so much if the opposite condition is to go on spending a freaking $1000 product to start a whole new stack afterwards, depending more than ever on a KG product. I mean, will Etch be opened to 3rd party developers ?

"but they have not proven all as useful and necessary as he wants us to think they are." Like 70% of the Bricks ecosystem uses our products. Both products are #1 in the niche, and it's not even close. Countless users profess the tremendous value these tools have brought to their workflows and how they're building better sites, faster, and more profitably. Literally, the principles I teach and the way our products work are causing other products to shift how they're doing things. Not to mention, the direction Bricks has gone since we entered the space is a testament to the influence. The tool you're saying you love so much is only the way it is because of the influence on its development. And you think it's a random coincidence that Generate built a selector system? You think it's coincidence that Elementor is now talking about adding a class-first workflow? This is exactly why people are lining up to buy the next step. We're doing things, and creating change, that's essentially unheard of. You can try to downplay that all you want, but it doesn't change anything. Get on board or get left behind.

@@Gearyco Hi Kevin, the success of ACSS is also due to the heavy marketing and occupation of media space you provide, legitimately sure, but for your own benefits, not only for the product quality you offer (which I'm not defying). You evolve with a fan-club around you that will always give you, "the Man", the positive feedback you're looking for, so I think you are a little biased so a to the real impact of your products. Always assume there exists a silent minority that just doesn't want to bother speaking out and entering sterile debates. "the direction Bricks has gone since we entered the space is a testament to the influence" : the "influence" of what ? KG + ACSS ? There again I think you're being a little over-confident in your statement. There's no negation that KG animates the community, but once again please be a little more humble, you're not the only one providing constructive feedback that later gets integrated in Bricks, there's a ton of qualified contributors other than you. Thinking otherwise is a bit arrogant, but we all know the way you are : you're very quick to get triggered and feel the constant need to justify yourself while always feeling the need to crush someone on the way (which is a bit tiring in my opinion). Your last sentence proves that right to the point. Cheers.

55:50 In ActiveCampaign, I can add a condition between each email to check for the existence of a tag. If that tag exists, I can end the automation or transfer them to another list or campaign. So, if you are sending out emails about Etch and someone makes a purchase, all emails related to buying Etch can stop since they have already purchased. Then, you can continue to nurture them on the new list they have been transferred to with educational emails on how to use Etch. This transition takes the user from an attraction campaign, where the focus is on educating and engaging potential buyers, to an onboarding campaign, which guides new customers in effectively using the product. Can Bento add these check-if conditions between emails?

"Guttenmorg with his cromagnon charter, titingfast and great primer must once for omniboss step rubrickredd out of the wordpress else is there no virtue more in alcohoran." I believe the first metion of Matt and Wordpress in Finegans Wake: Jame Joyce. Top academicians are still trying to find the true meaning of this as are the community looking to etch. In Australia it is reported that the tall poopy syndrome is having a field day. It sounds like this is going to be both earth shattering and inspirational that the Wordpress crowed will have to sit up and pay attention.

From watching all your latest videos and streams I'm thinking Etch is a new admin dashboard and possible a rework of how taxonomies and other core features work (or at least how they are presented and accessed). Essentially a UX/UI revampt that makes wordpress more modern.

Interesting thought, but a new admin backend design doesn't actually "change the landscape of front-end development". I'm so curious to see what this is.
@dazman88
@dazman88 Ай бұрын
@@llampp he also talked a lot about how antiquated the admin dashboard is and I supposed a more streamlined dashboard, especially with reworked taxanomies (if even possible) would change the landscape of frontend development. Or maybe it's not a new dashboard but a page builder (or even a side panel that works with different page builders like acss) that lets you create new terms, categories, cpts, posts etc from one screen. Im also very curious to see what it is.
@llampp
@llampp Ай бұрын
@@dazman88 Jup, he talked a lot about how outdated WordPress's CMS capabilities are, so maybe he's taking that to the next level with a new ACF alternative and making a revamped admin panel (similar to the ACSS) available with a keyboard shortcut instead of the admin dashboard at /wp-admin that we have these days. That would make it available from within every page builder. I don't think they're creating a new page builder though, he's been praising Bricks a lot these days.

Why should I pay in advance for an ominous product like Etch and help finance your development? All the "secrecy" surrounding it doesn't inspire much confidence in me and is annoying, to be honest. With ACSS and Frames, you show that you can do better. Why don't you just start a transparent crowdfunding project for Etch? Develop it first, then I'll (maybe) buy it.
