This reminds me of the guy who bought the 1985 Iroc Z brand new, then towed it home and put it in the back of a semi trailer for over 20 years with only 4 miles on it. Still had the window sticker on it, as well as plastic on the seats and steering wheel. My boss at the time bough it off Ebay and he let me clean it up and after a month of professional and meticulous cleaning and polishing, it looked like it rolled off the assembly line. Surprisingly it had zero rodents enter the car, not one spec of mouse poop anywhere and the inside actually still smelled brand new with no dust or dirt anywhere inside! I sold that car at auction and it now sits in a car museum and won’t be driven again. Look it up on KZbin. 85 Iroc with 4 miles and you will see the story. I’ll never forget being a part of that, it was truly amazing! Thank you Jack Oliver (My former employer, who is now passed away) for giving me the honor of being a part of that time capsule. May you rest in peace.

Watching this video was not only satisfying (as usual), it was somewhat emotional for me. I'm 58 years old and my neighbor had a new one of these in orange back in 1978 when I was 13 years old. I lusted after that car and now I see one resurrected 45 years later. It's amazing and my reaction is hopefully understandable. This might be your best video ever

Then the owner must have been pretty lonely. No wife, no family, no friends, no one. And even then, everyone can see the big garage on the property, because it is not Bruce Wayne in a bat cave. When I die, dozens of people will probably know if there is still a garage on my property. Especially as you can just see the estate/house nearby. 3:02

@@sirbowen4358 Family members can often have old cars sitting in garages that only there parents or grand parents ever used and once the parents are gone it never gets touched again because a new garage was built etc. So stuff like this will continue sitting or be forgotten about entirely because it's assumed that it's now junk.

66 here, and EURO boy so never really got to see very many corvettes, But i am a old school gearhead so of curse i have known about them for ever. C 1 - 2 and 3 is where it is at for me, even if the new ones can actually also make a turn and race. For sure showered in lotto money, my garage would have to contain at least 3 corvettes. My boy Jan Magnussen senior did the corvettes well Which remind me,,,, OMG i miss the sound of the Panos cars at Le Mans.

'69er too! I loved this era Corvette. Just so beautiful. I'm not a sports car driver at all, but it feels like this is sleek and sexy. Other era cars certainly looked great too, like the Mustang, Trans Am, etc, but to me they seemed to have a much more aggressive look. This Vette has a "yeah, I'll totally kick your behind, but you can't stop looking at me."

I agree the far car is a pace car. If it's low mileage with the original Indy Pace Car door decals as the technician said in the video AND if it is one of the very few that came with the manual 4 speed, it is still VERY valuable and much sought after! Probably deep into 6 figures if with the factory 4 speed manual. However, if you'll go through the video again, you'll catch a glimpse of a wheel on the middle or rear corvette. That spoke pattern bronze color factory wheel came on 1982 bronze collector edition that came with electronic crossfire injection. This collector's edition was to mark the end of the C3 production. There were no 1983 Corvettes because they were re-tooling for the radically changed C4 in 1984. The 82 collector's edition came with the first attempt at electronic crossfire fuel injection since some C2s with the 427 big block came with mechanical fuel injection in the mid 60s. I'm pretty sure that's what is under all those many years of dirt and air pollution that has settled on all of these cars. I can't wait to see if I'm right on the so far unidentified corvette.

@@teddbare2000 Not many know that there was not an '83 Corvette. I did purchase my '84 Vette in June of '83 though. Poorly made. The new digital dashboard fail soon after I purchased it. Both left and right windows failed, and the a/c also failed in the first 2000 miles. I paid $25K for the car. That was my last American made car. Going back to the '78 Vetts, when I picked them up I circled all the scratches with a grease pencil. When I complained to the District Manager, he agreed they both needed to be repainted at their expense.

This video is not just about restoring a car; it's about respecting automotive heritage. The lesson here goes beyond the mechanics of restoration; it's about cherishing and preserving the legacy of classic automobiles. The care taken to revive this Corvette highlights the importance of maintaining cultural artifacts for future generations. It's a reminder that each vehicle, no matter its age, has a story to tell, and it's our responsibility to honor that narrative. Truly inspiring work!

It's not about how fantastic you are and how amazing everyone thinks you are, it's the passion for cars. And you do sooo cool cars! Everything from all ages, not just muddy, repos or luxurycars. You're humble since you don't brag with your knowledge, you keep on asking us for advice and information. Super. Each video is also a bit different, not standardized. I started mechanic work in a GM Dealership in 1979. First motor job was in a 1980 that the factory left the engine oil out. I am 68 years old and made it to GM Master tech. As a young tech in his 20's there was many things that mechanics disliked because of tight access. Pulling the motor was one of them. The hood release cable was a common problem. As long as rodents did not chew up wiring it should be good to go. It seems amazing how mice can find a way inside. Things like brakes maybe rusted solid. I rebuilt many of those four piston calipers, before the stainless sleeve rebuilt calipers became available. Good luck looks Great.

These could have been built better. I had to pull my radiator in the 3rd year due to one tank started leaking that had just enough solder holding it together and leak proof to get it out the factory door. That's what the repair tech at the radiator shop that cleaned and re-soldered that tank and the other end tank while I had it out told me. Also, when it rained, water came in somewhere and dripped on the passenger's feet. But I still love mine.

Great detailing work fellas... Brought back memories of my father and his Corvettes. He was sales manager for a Chevy dealer back in the mid 50's. He would get new Corvettes in on a Friday, throw a set of headers on, take it to the local strip and win a few, then bring it back and sell it on Monday! I was still a gleam in his eye at that time...haha... On another note, my cousin who was injured in Nam, had partially recovered by 1978, turned around and bought a silver 1978 Anniversary Edition. I got to ride in it one time, then he wrapped it around a tree and died, though his wife luckily survived. I have always held a dream in my heart to own a Corvette one day, but at 68 years old, disabled, and broke, it will always remain a dream. The crowning achievement of the design team is the 1963 split-window Stingray, and I would gladly give just about anything to own one of those. I'm sure that heaven is indeed furnished by Chevrolet, and there is most definitely a full stable of 63 splits there!!!

I asked a mutual friend just a few years ago what ever happened to it (the dad had died). He said that they sold it with the same miles, but it wasn't the gem it once was. Door hinges were rusted solid, brake calipers rusted, many other rust issues. I don't know much more on details, but funny to see this nearly exact example from my teen years!! Thanks for the vid!

Even with the low mileage, these cars are not that desirable, it’s to bad the owner decided to let them sit without at least doing the basics to preserve them. To be viable vehicles they will need a complete going through, not just a cleaning, you did a great job of making it look presentable. 👍

@solanisomeni

NICE!! Having worked for years before I retired, in the car detailing/reconditioning work field, I must say that I'm impressed!! 👍 So many little things that brought back memories of long time ago. Everything from getting up close and personal to the paint job, tilting ones head to the side, looking side ways at it, following every line and crease in the cars body, to determine if the job is done right, or if something else needs to be done. Can't really say that I miss working in that industry. Much due to back then, we didn't have all the specialty equipment such as "cleaning/polishing/waxing etc". that there is now. So, it was A LOT of more hands on hard work, at the same time making sure to be careful and NOT mess up the paint job or interior... Also, the machines were a lot heavier. Granted, being a woman, I sure built a ton of muscle mass... LOL Also, many of the cleaning agents that we used daily, are now forbidden due to that they can be highly detrimental to ones health. Thankfully all I came away with is carpal tunnel in both wrists and a chronic back ache. I was quite warped in the head to start with, 🙃 so I'm not really experiencing that much of a change, having worked daily with with strong solvents and tri based liquid cleaning for the interior of the vehicles and of course, no PPE whatsoever. 😳 Anyhow, really nice job!! and thanks for the trip down memory lane. ☺

Her son was killed in Vietnam me being a nam vet i felt her sorrow ,he had bought the car just before he left for the nam . I didn’t have much money at the time but I wanted to look at the car . I was the first one to see it and I could not believe my eyes after removing the tarp . She only wanted $500.00 for the car , it was a corvette stingray , light blue , it was new , immediately went home and asked my stepdad if i could begging please borrow the money to purchase the car , he knows value so i for sure thought it was a slam dunk , and to my surprise he said no , i was literally in tears .😢😢😢😢
