Thanks for pointing that out. To be honest, I never gave it much thought and have only thought of tow truck operations as simply hooking up to a car that broke down. But yeah, there are some incredible accidents out there and these operators probably have all kinds of different messes to figure out how to haul off. I have newfound respect for these tow truck operators! Recovering that semi safely using multiple vehicles was a complex operation and had to take a lot of knowledge, experience, and courage.

To call them tow truck operator is the understatement of the decade. You have to have a intimate knowledge of PHYSIC to pull this off. They have to assess the situation then decide which laws applied. The weight of the truck the structure of the trailer and on and on He talked of inertia. We don’t give these guys enough credit
@tylermacconnell2178 ай бұрын
They did a great job, but I doubt these guys ever even took a physics course ever…not taking anything away from them. Their two heavy wreckers each outweighed the shorty semi truck and trailer which carried lightweight food products. Spreading the load between two of these wreckers would give them all the advantage they needed, and they knew that.
@garyparr54318 ай бұрын
@tylermacconnell217 you must only have a class room education, you have no ideal what your talking about, these men are highly trained operators, they have to know load ratings at all angles of the booms on those trucks, the weight ratio of the rigging used to lift that semi, the points of connection to balance the load, plus, work in synchronization with each other, one gets ahead of the other and it shifts the load to the other machine, so, long story short, you have no ideal what these men know
@Retiredjourneyman8 ай бұрын
@@garyparr5431 i totally agree with you , I was an Ironworker for 30 years , you couldn’t just set a crane up and not watch the position of the boom and also not making sure both cranes were lifting up at the same time because of the weight of the load. . Just like you said they have to know how the weight ranges their rigging , wire ropes , ( we called them chokers ) , shackles hooks and nylon straps , can take before breaking. Besides knowing what to look for in their rigging before they start the job to make sure it’s not too worn from a previous job. They have to take into account of the bracing of the bridge to work around it and not hit it with the boom of the cranes . They have to know where to hook up the rigging on the truck and or trailer depending on which one they are making the pick on . No these guys know what they’re doing and did a great job.
