WDSU-TV 1984 World's Fair Special

My mom took me to the 1984 World's Fair. We lived in Mississippi at the time and I was in the 4th grade. I still have my ticket. I enjoyed going and thought the various international pavilions were really interesting; especially the Peru pavilion with the authentic mummies. This was the last time that the World's Fair was held in the United States.

I have fond memories of the 1984 World's Fair. I spent most of the summer there. Before Al Gore "invented" the internet we had World's Fairs. Boy, that Al was something else.

Played the Italian Village 3-4 nights a week. I loved the World's Fair

The music used, "Four Rows of Jacks" by Mannheim Steamroller, was a very catchy, IMHO. It had a great beat to it.

That composer of the music in that beginning montage, I think I have heard some of his music before. I believe it was for a montage he did the music for on WYES. But it may be lost now because of the flood of WYES from Katrina.

I don't know. It was a critical (by the world) and financial (locally) disaster. The pluses - the development along the riverfront and in the warehouse district - should be noted.

Hello to all. In 1984 this event was also a ship of the Italian Navy. The ship was called Caio Duilio. I was boarded up there and I was sergeant. Have you by any chance Italian sailors documents were A Trip around the 1984 World's Fair on the Monorail. Thank you all.

My family went to this fair. It was ok but seemed like a huge disappointment considering Disney had EPCOT opening and it was way way better. I remember the smell of the river being like cesspool in July. My mother was disappointed in the food. We had to go off site to enjoy a meal. For 1984 the arcade and midway games seemed really small as well. What I did enjoy were the different countries but there were not that many as I hoped. My favorite things were the street music and the diving show.
