The more things change, the more things stay the same. There was something kind of zen watching this now, especially with ALL the change we’ve been through recently. Disney and not Disney.

It's vids like this at around the 44 min mark that almost make me feel bad about teasing Craigery about his hair. Brilliant point Craig!

My family's lost-nostalgia story is about something I never hear people mention -- peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from Aunt Polly on Tom Sawyer's Island. My dad loved them on his early visits, so when he brought us as young children we made a special trip over (with him raving about these sandwiches the whole time), only to find that the former counter-service stand had become a couple of vending machines. What a bummer! But like you said, my brother and I were kids and made our own memories running around the island, and we had a great time. I do still wonder about those sandwiches though...

Hollywood Studios is the best park if you have an infant/toddler who is too short to go on anything else because they can do all of the shows and rides aside from Rockin Rollercoaster and ToT. However, my 6 year old who is way short for her age was able to ride ToT, she was excited to ride a "scary" ride. Also, HS seems really small and it was easy for the kids to walk it without complaining. I think my 2 year old had the best time because all of her favorites were there and there were no lines for any of them. Sofia the First took her by the hand and walked her around that entire area before she went back for a break. Also, my 10 year old son thought that Fantasmic was the best firework show out of all the parks. I wish they would build onto it and add more things because you can do the whole thing in half a day. BUT that is perfect for a 2 year old.

My family and I went for our first trip last week and I have to say it was a wonderful experience. Half way through our trip we had a really late reservation at the grand floridian, and my gps was down and i was really late and had a meltdown on the poor girl behind the check in desk. They comforted me and put 3 extra fast passes on our magic bands for the next day. We went to magic kingdom and used one on anna and elsa, 2 on mine train, 1 on thunder mountain, 1 on buzz, and the last one on enchanted tales with belle. I let my son have 3 and my daughter have 3 and it was a magical day because we didn't wait in any lines. Between a mid day break at the hotel and dinner at be our guest it was amazing. We didn't have to wait in any lines the entire day! we weren't even staying at the grand floridian, i could only afford Pop this trip, but they still did that and they didn't have too. We are already planning our trip for next year. I've never had people treat me so well. And if its considered bad now, I can only imagine how wonderful it was years ago!

I agree wholeheartedly! Should I ever return to Disney World I will have a Dreams Unlimited Travel agent (preferable Tracy, Mackayla, Sean, or Teresa) making all the reservations I ask with me making all the decisions based on my family’s style and info obtained from the gus at The Dis and long before I discovered them (middle of last winter) I was already well-versed and obsessed with the Disney park’s thanks to The Unnoficial Guidebooks by Bob Sehlingher and Len Testa

This was a favorite show for me. It has helped me let go of the past. I'm 40 and my first trip was in a metal stroller in the late summer of 1974. We went every year of my life. I have 2 girls. One a senior in High school that has been at least twice a year since she was born and the other is 13. I have ruined trips for my girls because of my desire of giving them MY experience. I cant take that back. but our last trip was relaxed and unplanned. It was our favorite trip ever. Sorry im rambling but THANKS!!!

I agree with Kevin in the sense that the little mermaid ride is great because it is old Disney. It's so nostalgic

I think alcohol has been a bad change. Walt wisely banned alcohol from Disneyland. I have had so many bad experiences with drunk people there. I mean, people can't go a day without getting smashed?

cantbeatTheBeatles bc of the entitled PARENTS who let kids scream and be rude ...after 3hrs at the mk I DESERVED that beer my foot was run over and I thought I was gonna have to let the hood out in Disney...maybe Disney can limit the amount of drinks adults can buy in the park....but trust me for us child free people we are shocked at how bad kids have gotten....

Part of the problem is all the mass production of china made Disney products. As a business they streamline their cost but in the end it effects the experience. When I first took my children back in 2010 they used to have the hat shop where you could custom build mickey ears. When we returned in 2011 they have differnent models but you can't custom build the ears at Magic Kingdom anymore. My son has a custom built model. When he wore them in 2013 so many people and cast members asked us where we got them. It's just another lost treasure on Main Street. My only goal in Disney is just to have a fun time. In the end I always get surprised.

I chuckle at how seriously Pete takes Disney. His tone is that of a military sergeant. DONT LET YOUR DISNEY VACATION BE A FAILURE, FOR PETE'S SAKE!

I honestly have to say that I was a bit disappointed on our visit to WDW. Most cast members have no idea how to deal with people, Disneyland has better customer service. The other thing that bothered me was how old and poorly maintained is Hollywood Studios. I was expecting great things for WDW, but left disappointed. With that said there were still great cast memebers that rescued my vacation and showed me there is hope for WDW.

Great show. I agree it is best to be open to changes in vacation, but having saved and saved to go on a "once in a lifetime" trip, some changes will be remembered. Some people can only ever go once maybe twice to WDW.

I loved WDW, but I ADORE DW. The cast members on the whole are head and shoulders above WDW. The parking attendants and 3 of the 4 parks were awful towards my family of 5.

I am a pretty young millennial, so I'm not going to lie, I was worried this was going to be an hour long rant about how much better everything used to be (because everywhere else that seems to be the perspective). But I have to say I was very impressed with you guys as you were able to look at this objectively and admit your biases. It is really interesting to hear stories and facts about earlier Disney World, and to hear your experiences there :)

Going this year, for the first time in over 30 years! Last time I went (August of 1986), the Living Seas was brand new (they were still completing the outside landscaping). I remember Mister Toad's Wild Ride (yikes), and the Skyway, and Discovery Island. I know that aside from most of the Magic Kingdom, I'm in for a shock when I go back in September.

I found this episode extremely interesting. I was struck by how many things you mention being gone from WDW that are alive and well at Disneyland (my home park). I agree with Kevin that The Mickey Mouse revue was great. It wasn't a technological marvel. Their wasn't any bang and flash but it was enchanting and you left smiling ear to ear.

I am trying to get caught up on your videos. This was a hard one to watch. I'm going to look for the "problems" when we go in September. But what you said about being emotionally attached is sooooooo true! I expect something "Magical" at WDW. It's like going to Chick-Fil-A. We have a great expectation. 99% of the time, WDW doesn't let me down. Thanks for your videos!

This is one of the best DIS shows I've seen. Absolutely loved it. I went for the first time in 1977 when I was 12 and have been every calendar year since then until 2014.
